Ok first of all if you mix 2 wings of discoverys will it make a trio of 9999? if so can you tell me where to get a wing of discovery?

Second in the Calm lands i caught all the monsters and the guy gave me a chest but it isnt opening can anyone tell me how to open it?

I believe that the chest contains a Moon Crest/Sigil for Yuna's ultimate weapon Nirvana. I think you have to get all Area creations to open it, or something, or I could be terribly wrong.

u need the celestial mirror to open the chest. get a chocobo and visit remiem temple then complete the chocobo race with no chests to get the cloudy mirror. then visit the crystal in macalnia woods to turn it into the celestial mirror, which u can then use to open the chest.

Wings to Discovery: defeat Shinryu, one for kill, two for overkill, bribe Marlboros for 540000 gil (3-5), Greater Marlboros for 1280000 (6-10), race the Chocobos under Remiem (30, one time only). By the time you can do any one of these three, you'll be doing much more than 9999.

Obtain the Celestial Mirror, which has already been explained.

Actually (sorry, but I'm in the mood to pick nits) you can't find Marlboro's in any FF games. You can however, find many Malboros. It's an obvious reference, but not an exact one.
