I don't think this has been posted before.....
The wipedia article says that IMDB says Tara Strong, the voice actor of Rikku, will also be doing the voice of Penelo........


Voice-overs

Only 5 English language voice actors have been announced as of August 29, 2006. Square Enix is currently working on localizing the game for the U.S. Noted translator Alexander O. Smith has been confirmed to be involved with the English North American localization of the script. Smith had also previously worked on the localization for Vagrant Story. The first English language trailer was shown at E3 in May of 2006. Most of the main characters were shown with their English voices.

It has also been noted by IMDB that Tara Strong will provide the voice of Penelo in the U.S version of the game.

I liked Rikkus voice so i kinda like the idea of Tara Strong doing the voice of Penelo.....but it's kind of weird that they would use her voice in two Final Fantasy's
Tara Strong has done a lot of voice acting and i like a lot of the characters she plays so yeah..............

Tara can do different voices, so it wouldn't really matter if she did Penelo.

She has a fairly wide range of abilities, so that's pretty cool.

As long as she sounds cute. Penelo is really cute and deserves a really cute voice.

Yeah Tara is great at voice overs i was shocked to find out she did Raven on Teen Titans. But i just hope she doesnt make Penelo winney like Rikku was.

im sure penelo wont be as annoying as the FFX-2 rikku. ive heard her voice in FF12 on a trailer and it sounds good. shes seems like a playful and energetic character and i think tara strong it fine for the voice acting. i agree with everyone who has posted before me.

I think Tara Strong did a great job as Rikku, so hopefully she'll do just as well with Penelo. I wouldn't consider IMDb a reliable source of information regarding voice actors, though. They originally had Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush listed as voice actors in KH2, after all.

You say that as if it's surprising. They were slated to do the voices for their own characters for Pirates. That aside, Johnny Depp would be a horrible Balthier. D=

Where did you get that info from?

Check the official US FF XII site (http://www.finalfantasyxii.com) - choose characters. In each bio, you also have the name of the english VA. Since it is an official site, there's hope the listing is correct. However, facts in Ashe's bio are different from what her official japanese bio says, so you never know :rolleyes2

However, IMDB is notoriously unreliable, so I would go with the official site on that one

I also read that someone else was doing Penelo's voice, rather than Tara Strong. I want to say it was ffinsider.net, but I could be wrong.

I knew IMDB's list of actors was quite unreliable. Cat Taber is doing Penelo's voice according to the official site (http://www.finalfantasyxii.com/). It seems there aren't any really big stars in FFXII's English voice cast, though it seems Ashe and Basch's voice actors have done quite a lot of voice acting before.

And I think she'll fit Penelo's look and personally alot better then Tara Strong.

Cat Taber was Mission? Wow, she was my favorite character in KotOR, maybe because she reminded me of Rikku (the FFX version), who was voiced by Tara Strong. :D I have a feeling Rikku and Penelo will still be quite similar characters.

Forgive me if it's already been sai, as i didn't read the whole thread.

Tara Strong doesnt do the voice for Penelo. It is actually Catherine Taber that does her voice.
