These are my first attempts at using GIMP to make sigs. Any advice on how to improve would be most appreciated.

They're actually very good. You could possibly make them a little smaller, but thats up to you. A border would be nice too. You have potential, just keep practicing.

I haven't worked out how to add borders yet.

Yeah, deviantArt is where I get mine. I love the brushes there. Keep working at them, you definately have talent.

Very nice. You know the Overlay tool? I always use that to make my sigs very photoshopy. :)

I haven't found that yet, how do I use it?

2 more I made because I was bored.

Starseeker, If your using Photo shop, go around the entire sig with the rectangle tool and right click, then go on stroke. As for overlay, it should be in the blending options.

These are cool, and you say, you hadn't figure out everything about Gimp?. You'd soon, jut play around, and try to find some tuts.
I like them alot, just the size bit too big, go on making them, I will look forward for more. ;)

And I like your thread's name. It reminds me of my old sigs thread. *drifts daydreaming*

Thanks Owen, I still haven't sussed out how to blend the image with the backround yet. Or separate an image from a many coloured background.

That has some nice blending there, but the text is hard to read, I can't read it.
you asked about blending, for that just use an eraser with low opacity and erase the edges of the reder, partly.
But you are verymuch improving. keep it up!.

Something I put together quickly. If anyone wants one of these then I'll touch it up a bit. I'll try and take requests.
