View Full Version : IQ - Test The Nation

Has anyone taken the "Test The Nation" test for this year? This is aimed at UK people, but you can all take the test here. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/testthenation)

I myself got a rather spiffy 132, which means I'm smarter than 97.5% of the population. Not bad if I do say so myself. Incidentally, if I was the same age as Keith Barron (the celebrity with the highest IQ, 146), I'd have the same IQ as him.

What's that about? They want to record the IQ's of everyone in the UK? That's... pointless. IQ means very little in the real world. I mean, when I took the Mensa in high school I got 142 and look at me... sitting here on a Final Fantasy message board in my dad's old sweat pants.

If this test takes more than five minutes to complete then I guess you can call me "stupid".

I did one of those things once. They were showing it on Fox. I got a 130-something. My friend got like 6 higher than me. I was devastated. ;__;

Hmm, something seems to be not working on the site for me. I'll try something else.

I'm at 134. I don't believe in IQ tests and their validity however.

I've done one of those before and got 132 ^^
But I never go by those things... my friend scored like 160 or something which is silly ^^

I would do it again now... if I wern't so drunk :D

138, some of that was pretty trick though. I don't really trust it's legitimacy 100%. I could just being paranoid or skeptic though.

I don't really trust them becuase a lot of answers can be guesses.

Everybody here seems to be getting 130-ish, which makes me question this test's legitimacy.

But if I get higher than all of you, then it's okay.

I retook the test and gots 155 OMFG, smexy.
Well not really, but I don't really trust it's Legitimacy and I think it could be easy to figure out the system and deliberatly get high scores.
It's the same with most, if not all Internet based IQ tests. So are you going to stalk away from topic a bit by talking about internet IQ tests illegitimacy or something? Well it could be classed as on topic. Depends on how you view it. SO enough stalling, I'll end my post and shut up now. *zip*

It doesnt work because your IP has to be within the UK for you to take the test. Its not broadband access. :geekdom:

IQ tests are rubbish. They only measure a certain type of intelligence, an you can get a high IQ score just by hitting random answers.

Hooray for illegitimate tests! :p

Actually they do this every year (at least for the last three years), and it's the largest IQ consensus study in the country since it's televised. The results are used, AFAIK, to find the current national average in the UK and adjust it accordingly. It doesn't help that during the test you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a question right. So in essence you're guaranteed to have a basic score of 18 from the off. The tests are supposedly more accurate if you A: Don't guess and B: If you don't know an answer, to not even give an answer. I imagine if you don't answer any questions you don't know, rather than just guessing, then it would be more accurate.

So I did it and got 113 :) which isn't bad really. Plus I kept pressing the wriong button xD So i got around 10 questions wrong (or maybe right...) by clicking the wrong answer!
Average is around 90-100 isn't it. So I guess I a little above average.
Rock on

75% of the population lie between 75 and 125. To see that only one person has gotten below 125 makes me seriously question the legitamacy of this 'IQ' test.

I could post any IQ test on here, and the average scores will vary between 125 and 150. I can assure you.

The average is meant to be 100, as far as I know. I did a national "Test the nation" a few years ago, I got a 124.

Is this one of those nasty tests that require you to know more about England than anything else? Like "What is the name of the accent of the average person in Watford" etc? I hate those.

I always find it funny how people try to measure intelligence, and then argue over it's accuracy (I think the tests are fun, and interesting to think about). I've only taken one IQ test in my life-I scored 157. I'm probably going to take another just to see how I do. I've been considering joining MENSA, just to get a discount on car insurance.
