didn't want to make this a poll cause there are so many options, but which is your favourite console? i expect to see a lot of PS2 for some reason...

mine is ps1 only because those were the years when i was a teenager and when i really enjoyed videogames more than i do now

It's a tough call between PS1 and X-Box. Whilst the PS2 can of course play PS1 games, the PS2 itself hasn't had as many I consider really awesome, classic games as the PS1 did.

The X-Box, on the other hand, has proven itself to be a robust console with a wide selection of games (Could do with more RPGs though), has the best versions of any cross-platform games, the best controller (Well, the original large one was, the new smaller ones aren't so hot), is the most reliable, and generally I have few complaints.

Of course I could be really pretentious and say Colecovision xD

I would say the PS1 or possibly Super Nintendo. I did not get into the XBOX too much; but I linux modded it, which makes it an instant badass.

I would have to say the PS1. I grew up on video games because thankfully, my dad loves them as well but didn't get into it until I started to buy my own games. The PS1 was my actualy "own" system without having to share it with my sisters, and Resident Evil being my first game.

It was love after first shot-off zombie head :D

The PS2, PS1 really, but the PS2 can play both so yeah. I'd say the Dreamcast is close behind...

Of all time? Super Nintendo.

Right now? The DS. To me it's like a SNES jr.

the best controller (Well, the original large one was, the new smaller ones aren't so hot),

Are you ribbing me? That control pad was a complete abomination. D:

I'd probably have to go with PSX or the Megadrive for mine.

WRONG! The X-Box pad was sweet action. Like the Dreamcast, only it improved upon what was already fantastic.

Then again I have giant manly hands, so... xD

Xbox 360 - The controllers great, the games are great, xbox live is great, the achievment points are a great idea and once I played my 360, I couldn't go back to playing my PS2. xP

Trying to play Street Fighter on the first Xbox was terrible. The pad was not only too big, but the button placement was terrible. I'm not expecting it to be as functional as the PS2 pad, or as comfortable as the gamecube was, but seriously. It sucked.

The 360 pad seems fine though, which is cool. although I've only tried it on those preview machines they have in games shops, but yeah.

Super Nintendo has the best games of all time Firepower 200, Kirby Superstar, and Super Mario RPG anyone?

Ouch!
09-10-2006, 01:35 AM
SNES. Too bad my parents let me buy one. I wasn't allowed to own games until they finally relented about a year after the release of the N64. All my memories from the very beginning are on SNES, though.

N64 easily (though I still have mad love for all the other consoles).

Goldeneye, Mario Party, Mario Kart 64, mothersmurfin' Super Smash Brothers, NFL Blitz. These games were simple enough that anyone could start playing, but complex enough for those who get good to truly be competitive. It was the ultimate "party console". This was the system everyone was willing to play even if they weren't into video games. SSB still gets turned on regularly at my house when friends come over or there's a party (though it gets pretty crazy if you turn it into a drinking game). You could argue that online gameplay is making physical multiplayer obsolete, but there is nothing better than punching a friend after he steals your star or getting in the face of the dude you just killed who had the RCP-90.

As if that wasn't enough, the epic single player games were amazing. Both Legend of Zelda 64's, Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie (I've yet to find a more compelling platformer), Super Mario 64, Goldeneye again, Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong 64, Paper Mario, Ogre Battle 64. Other than the Final Fantasy's, I've not spent more time on single player games.

The N64 was probably the holy grail of my childhood.
