View Full Version : How many kids will you have?

The Devil Man
09-11-2006, 11:28 AM
I am on a Thread-creating rampage :mwahaha:

This morning, in the UK, in London, there was a short news article on TV about a woman with a jaw-dropping 12 kids

That freaked me out a little. I mean... 12 kids!   How can a woman squeeze out 12 kids?! How can ya handle so many years of pregnancy? How can you give love and equal amounts of attention to 12 kids? More importantly... how can you remember the names and birthdays of all 12 kids!?

So Devil Man's question for the day is: How many kids will you have in the future? Will you have a fortune-saving Zero or a more manageable 3? Or will you be a lean-mean baby-producing machine and pop out 6, 7 or 8 kids, one after the other? Or even more!?

I think, with my future girlfriend/wife's permission, I'd like about 3. 4 would be nice too. What about you guys, or those that already are parents?

That fortune-saving zero looks nice, Devil Man. I think I will take that.

Can't say that decision lies solely with me. Having said that, my own daughter, she don't even know me and when I went inside her momma told her I was dead which in a way I was

I'd also adopt, for sure, without question. Maybe 2 kids if my girlfriend/wife agrees.

Polaris

I really really want four, but four its' too many kids to take care and you have think also about the money, I want to give them everything that I can and I want to pay attention to them so two would be nice and I really want to adopt one... I won't make the same thing as my mother coz i was 10 when my sister bornt and now we're very different and she wants to play with me and I don't want so they can't have a big age difference

Two kids is the max I would consider. If I have them at all, which I don't think I stand much chance of :p

Miriel
09-11-2006, 12:34 PM
4!

It's a nice even number.

I think it would be very very lonely to be an only child. This just comes from the fact that I only had my brother and even then it got lonely at times when we were mad at each other and we wouldn't talk for days. I always envied people who had lots of brothers and sisters. Both my parents had 4 other siblings so I have tons of aunts and uncles and cousins which is awesome.

Having a big family is a great thing, I think.

Madame Adequate
09-11-2006, 12:36 PM
Yeah, it gets lonely being an only child, but that gets made up for because you never have to fight siblings for stuff, and you get all the toys/games/outings for yourself.

Not having to share > being an only child.

But then you don't have all those childhood sibling memories and you can't say things like, "remember the time you took me behind the sofa and cut off my hair with safety scissors?" Yeeeah, good times.

As for me...probably about 3 kids.

b.) Admittedly, it's not an easy avenue for me to go down either....so I may just fill the void by becoming a crazy cat person.

Two. I'm a lone child myself so I don't want my kids to be alone because then they would inherit most of my DNA and end up being hermits that are anti-social and traps themselves in their rooms going on EoFF.

I'd like four, I would like to adopt a couple also. But it's either that or zero. I'm not sure if I want kids or not yet.

Ryth
09-11-2006, 03:17 PM
Zero or two, possibly three (the third would be one I would adopt, probably one of the older kids because they rarely ever get adopted, you know? =/ It's normally the babies only). Kids aren't something I'm really sure of yet.

About the first post, 12 kids ain't that spectacular. I've got friend, one of which has 15 brothers and sisters, and another with 11. One of my good friends is the baby of 7, and my former classmate is one of 8. So, 12 not so special in my opinion. As for me, I'm 1 of 1, but wish I had a brother. Life gets so boring growing up.

I'd like to have 2, but who knows. I may have none, one or a ton.

But without having those memories, I just hear about them from other people, which really doesn't indicate to me that I missed much.

Plus, my parents really screwed me up, it's better there's only one person who got that xD

Yes you are.

Arrianna
09-11-2006, 05:22 PM
Actually to break even for poulation you need to have 3. One for you, one for the other parent, and one that statistically won't reproduce (since 1 in 3 either die before reaching that age, are infertile, or simply don't have any children).

Araciel
09-11-2006, 05:24 PM
if every couple had only one child and then stopped, the population would decrease, though only slightly at first

edit: but taking the world-wide perspective under consideration, it would never work

Two, because I'd like a son and daughter, but not enough to consider paying to raise three kids. If I end up having two children of the same sex, then I'll just leave it at that, and resent the second one until they start bringing in a regular income.

However, considering my luck, I wouldn't be at all surprised if I ended up with them. Really, I have the worst luck.

This question really isn't evident to most of us anyway. I think once we get school out of the way and start our careers we can come up with something more befitting to our true desires or whatever. Or maybe you really hate kids. Good for you, we don't need more people on this planet.

Bad Huxley! :irked:

Also, I don't think I'd be so lonely if I were an only child. I'm kind of used to doing stuff on my own. That may kind of come from the fact that I just really couldn't relate much to my younger brother as a child. Seeing how he had speech problems among some other personal problems, I couldn't really communicate with him all that much, and it's still a bit hard at times.

Uh... I think you're missing something here.

If you have no children, you are not contributing.

If you have a child, you are contributing.

You might not be making up the numbers like people having four or five kids, but you're still slowing down any depopulation which might occur.

Additionally you presume we're going to continue dying.

With that said, MAYBE one day I'll want 1 kid, if simply for the fact that I'll be a lonely old person with no one to take care of me. ...If the kid even turns out into a decent person and won't send me into an old person home xD

If I'm going to get any, it'll be one or two. One would be nice because I'd probably love spoiling him/her, but two is nice because he'd get someone to play with. Either way, I refuse to become a daddy anytime earlier than 30.

I don't know a lot of stuff but I do know this:

if I were foolish enough to get a kid (foolish because I am the worst person to have a child), the child will be made out of wedlock for various personal reasons which have no logical basis.

Also I would be either entirely permissive (ie best friend dad) or a total sadist.

Neither really interest me. I'd much rather prefer to have a million dollars in twenty years than a heart attack.
