So, yeah, I work at GameStop, which is an awesome job...Yesterday, a young man came in to do some trade ins, and LO! He had Disagea, Hour of Darkness! And I was like O_O when the computer scanned it for 30 dollars in trade!

And even more O_____O when the price sticker we printed said 69.99 to sell USED.

I was stunned. I'm NEVER selling my copy of the game.

So, What rare games do you own? Have you ever sold any?

The two rarest games that I own would be,
-Lunar SSSC
-Lunar Eternal Blue

That would probably be it.

On the other hand I am planning on buying a couple of rare games that cost crazy money, such as.

-Tales of Destiny 1,2
-Valkyrie Profile
-Suikoden 1,2

So yeah those games alone would probably cost me over $400.

You know, I have 4 of the 5 games you're looking for...but I don't think I'll ever sell them. TofD was my first playstation RPG, and thus holds sentimental value for me...TofD 2 is just as close.

Suikoden? I'll never sell those because I'm greedy. I love them too much.

I don't own any truly rare games, I've got Vagrant Story, 2 copies of FF Anthology, and I used to own Double Dragon for the GameBoy (Don't know how rare it is on that console though). BUT I once sold/traded a Factory Sealed Mario Kart game for the SNES for £5, plus a bunch of Mega Drive games. Selling one Sealed on eBay now would probably go for a few Hundred Quid.

the most rarest game i have is FF1 factory sealed in its box along with the guide....0_0i keep for ever i wonder how much it is worth >.>

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, which I picked up used for $49.99. I could sell it on eBay and make over a hundred dollars, but I love Disgaea way too much to ever part with it.

I paid $45 for Disgaea used, and it didn't even have it's case. I wanted the game badly enough to get it though. It's the only time I've seen the game in the stores around here, so I didn't have much of a choice unless I wanted to e-bay it, which I didn't.

Lol I bought Disgaea: Hour of Darkness frm gamestop for like 49.99 and sold it back 2 months later for some newer game, I regret doing that ever since :D

I have a whole box of about 200 Amiga games that must be hard to come across. I doubt they're worth anything though, thanks to emulators and a loss of original packaging.

Whoa, hold on, when did Disgaea become rare? o_O

Anyway I've got Suikoden II, which is one of the more rare games around.

09-15-2006, 11:32 AM
I think rainecloud sent me a rare streets of rage game for the megadrive?? No box though, so I guess it's a lot less valuable.

PerpetualBurn, ooh give me amiga games, need some. xD

Nope. I'm hanging on to them.

I've never sold a game without later regretting it.

There's a few copies of Suikoden on ebay. Is it worth buying?

Saying 'yes' would be a gross under recommendation. Thererfore:

WTF BUY IT SO YOU CAN PLAY A GOOD RPG NOW NOW NOW I SAID SO

If you ever see Suikoden 1 or 2 for a good price, you buy it and never look back.

I used to have Suikoden 2, but then it cracked, so I have to get another copy. A dark cloud hung over my house for days after it broke. :(

It took me like three months to find the game in the first place. Though I guess in a couple of years all my NIS games might be just as much. But I love them too much to part with.

I've got Grandia. Good game. I never realised it was hard to get hold of...but then I've had it ages so why would I ever look?

Whoa, hold on, when did Disgaea become rare? o_OYeah, I didn't think it was too difficult to get hold of. Maybe that's just the PAL version, though.

I don't have any rare games, at least not since ICO was re-released.

LunarWeaver

I think the rarest I have is Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete... I have the case and book and the Making of Lunar disc and the audio CD and all that jazz with it.

There are certainly a lot of rare games I'd like to have... Namely Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 1. I can find DDS2 easily enough, and I can find DDS1 but it's too pricey for me because I'm a cheap bastard. :cat:

I'm not sure when Final Fantasy VII became an 80 dollar game used either...And there's no way I'm paying 50,000 dollars for Valkyrie Profile.

Zeromus_X
09-15-2006, 07:53 PM
That's what the PSP version is for, Lunar. :cat: Well, then you'd have to buy a PSP if you didn't already own one, so you'd probably spend as much money for it on the PlayStation.

Yeah, Final Fantasy VII isn't rare. Why people insist on selling (and buying) it for such ludicrous prices is beyond me. I saw one at GameStop (before they turned traitor and stopped selling used PS1/N64 games) for just $20. Black label.

Lets see here.

Lunar 1
Lunar 2
Tales of Eternia(PSX)
Valkyrie Profile
Rez
Gitaroo Man
Castlevania Chronicles

I probably have other rare games and just don't know it. I have the greatest hits version of Castlevania Symphony of the Night. I heard that game was rare from some people and I go "It was a greatest hits...how is it rare?"

That's what the PSP version is for, Lunar. :cat: Well, then you'd have to buy a PSP if you didn't already own one, so you'd probably spend as much money for it on the PlayStation.

It would be better to buy the Playstation copy. Generally, you can find a copy of Valkyrie Profile on EBay for around $70-$100 for a bidding. It is significantly more expensive when doing a Buy Now purchase, upwards of $170. However, the PSP alone costs around $200($250 for the "Entertainment" pack) and the game costs $40.00. So, unless you are obsessed with playing games on a smaller screen just because you can bring it with you, it'd be better on the wallet to go for the EBay route.

Let's see. I'm not up to the minute with rare games but I own a few that have been named:

Suikoden 1, Suikoden 2, Lunar: Silver Star Story, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, and, of course, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.

I bought Disgaea when it first came out for $50. Both Lunar games ran me about $30 each, but I got the second for Christmas a few years back. Suikoden 1 was a birthday present back in 2001 and was pretty cheap on Amazon.com for about $15-20. I got really lucky and found Suikoden 2, complete with booklet and case, for around $15 as well. Unfortunately, the copy I purchased is covered with light scratches. It functions properly and everything but there is always the fear that it will just give out on me one day. I'm not sure what I would do if that happened. I have come close to buying it on EBay more than a few times.

I guess I'd have to put my copies of Suikoden 1 & 2 in the list, as well as Disgaea. Don't think I have anything else that is 'rare'. I have Wild Arms as well, but I don't know if that one qualifies as rare. My games are all in excellent condition (manuals, inserts, etc.) so I imagine that makes them worth more.

I think the release of Disgaea 2 has pushed up the price of Disgaea. Now that it's got a sequel, people who missed the first one are looking for it to try the game spawned a sequel.

I will universally reccomend that if you have Suikoden 1 or 2, keep it. :)

I don't have Lunar. I wanted it, but I don't have it.

I agree on Suikoden III. I kept searching but I still cannot find it.

I guess I own some of the rare game listed. Should I sell them? Or Shouldn't I? *Money Eyes* I want $$$.

Wow, got quite a few. I cant be bothered to list them all, but Im no way parting with them. My ex bought me Suikoden 1 and 2 from his work for £30 each! They looked as though they had never been played! Plus I bought a copy of Suikdoen 3 for £20 in a game shop in Leeds. Cant play it ... yet! So they arent getting away!

Suikoden IV and Suikoden V, as well as Suikoden Tactics, aren't really that rare. I seem them quite often whenever I go into an EBGames or Gamestop. And is the Xenogears you have the Greatest Hits version or the original?

The first two Monkey Island games and the other old Lucasarts adventure games are almost impossible to find now, and I'm glad I got them before Lucasarts stopped selling them.

I bought almost all of them years ago, and the ones I didn't have I got on a site that had them for download. The site was forced down legally within months of being created. Of course, Lucasarts now refuse to sell them, so I can't see the harm in letting people download them.

Even Grim Fandango, one of the hands down greatest games of all time, they refuse to sell, and recently used copies skyrocketed in price on the Net.

I'm glad I advised FallenAngel411 to buy it in time. She bought it for 35$ before the prices raised to 75$ used!!!
