I just got home from the black carpet screening of Sasha Baron Cohen's "Borat." As far as I know it doesn't come out in theatres for another month and a half or so, but just as a heads up in advance, you're going to want to plan your life around seeing this movie as soon as possible. It is wonderful, and missing it would be a terrible shame. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

Borat is definately my favourite Sascha Baron Cohen character, much better than Ali G and Hugo (and a lot more relevant in today's climate). The trailer I saw had me doubling over laughing. I missed Snakes on a Plane, I will NOT miss this.

I managed to see this today. We had some special free sneak preview so I went along and found it to be hilarious!

If any of you guys have seen it, do you like it?

It's super offencive so bring Grandma. She will love it.

I saw it a week or two ago at the black carpet screening in Los Angeles. Bests Clerks 2 for the funniest movie this year, I thought. I would tell you my favorite part, but it's all so offensive that isn't really an option.

I've seen some of the deleted scenes on eBaum's World.

Freakin' hilarious. xD

As I said in the thread we had a couple weeks ago, I can't wait to see this movie. It's playing tonight at my school, so hopefully a group of friends and I will go see it. I think the official release is November 3rd.

Just got back from seeing this, pretty good, didnt meet the hype though in my opinion. It certainly was alot more crude than I thought it would be. The interview sections werent as good as the ones shown on television, but the actual movie segments were pretty good.

My particular favourite bits were Borat shoving Pamela Anderson in a sack and then chasing her around Virgin Megastore, Borat wrestling with his friend naked, then to run around the hotel chasing him and finally runninginto some conference and getting taken down by security ( easily the most shocking scene ), Borat in his truck after his friend stole everything from him ( a tear went down my eye, it truely did ) and the whole first segment with him showing us around his village, the running from the Jew was very funny.

While not as great as I hoped, it certainly was enjoyable, probably best for people who havent seen much Borat as alot of the films content was similer to alot of the stuff you've seen on TV.

Now all Sascha needs to do now is make a Bruno movie, seeing as thats his best character by a long shot.

Hey! Fuck off, Death!

I've never seen that many people laughing out loud at a theatre.

The part when the bear popped out of the window when the ice cream truck song was playing was hilarious.

I want to see it so badly, it looks hysterical. I might have to pick up a bootleg, though, because I don't think I'll be able to see it in theatres. ;__;

I thought it was absoloutley amazing, I loved it. I feel guilty for finding it so hysterical though, it was so offensive! but the way he said it, made it so.. funny ;___; He's so cute!

Im suprised he was able to make the film o:

That has to be the first cinema viewing Ive been in that people have applauded the movie, and thats something British people dont usually do.

It looks freakin hilarious, even though it isn't very nice to the Kazakhstanians (Kazakhs? Kazakhstanites?).

I'm going to see it tomorrow sometime, and even though Borat is my least favorite of the characters in Da Ali G Show, he's still pretty damn funny, so I have pretty high expectations.

I haven't seen it yet, but anyone in the UK see him on Johnathan Ross?

OMG, he was histerical, he pulls out polaroids of his fat naked dead wife. I think there's a video of it on youtube.......

It was, of course, absolutely hilarious. The naked fight is possibly the funniest scene I've ever seen in a movie. My sides hurt from laughing so much.:p

It was fairly amusing and a nice little social critique too. I'm sick of hearing about it though, Borat's not exactly new.

"Genuine chocolate face" would be nearly impossible to wear thin.

I found it hilarious, for both the obvious reasons, and the fact that it pokes fun at us for being ignorant of foreign cultures...

if the second point isn't the point of the movie I have failed at life.

While totally racist and offensive, it is also the funniest film I've seen this year.

I'll see it when it comes out on DVD. I don't think I could stand to sit through the whole thing at once. It looks hillarious, but that kind of comedy still gets old fast.

I think it's better to see it in the theater while you can. There's nothing better than laughing alongside a couple hundred other people who really get it. The girls all shrieking incredulously at the sudden sight of dicks. Good times.

Appearantly the college road trip people are suing Borat. They claim they were told things about how this was for a foriegn country and would never be shown in the USA as well as never mention the school or prat name. To make their case they were appearantly talking about all of this at a bar after a few beers which could make the contract void among other things.

I thought it was okay, i've seen funnier stuff though. There were some insanely funnier parts that make my throat hurt from laughing so hard (such as that long hotel scenario), but those scenes were kinda spaces out, with the other stuff in between just giving me a few mild chuckles. I dont know why so many people are finding this movie hysterical.

Heee I giggled lots. I loved when they thought the jews shapeshifted into cockroaches and threw all the money at them xD and when he wore his trousers low, and the dinner party thing.. It was fun with everyone else in the cinema laughing too, though my friends said parts of it were hard to watch or got offensive, but that was the point! I was left wanting more :p

I still haven't seen it, but in addition to all the money it's making, it seems like EVERYONE who was in it is suing because they come off poorly. Who'd imagine, ignorant people actually looking ignorant! Yet somehow, it's not their own fault.

Take care all.

Borat is a pig.
he gives a bad name to everyone in that nation. most of them have nothing to do with why he chose to create Borat.

I can't stand Borat. Maybe because I don't see what's funny about sexist and racist comments? I know in Australia everyone was really angry about a Muslim cleric saying women incite rape and yet we welcome this man into the country and laugh with him? It doesn't make sense.

Kawaii Ryűkishi
11-19-2006, 10:21 AM
The difference is that Borat is a fictional character intended for comedy. Whereas a Muslim cleric is a Muslin cleric.

Indeed. It's important to remember what irony and satire are.

Take care all.
