I always thought "ape" when I heard "abe".

Dictionary.com doesn't know either.

Never mind the Abes, what I want to know is what a Duggle is. Sounds like something out of Harry Potter. :p

Those games kick an incredible amount of ass (I actually got a good ending on both Exoddus and Oddysee on my first try).
In fact, I would like to vote that this be the Abe in the team name.

Actually, considering that Japanese often uses a B to represent a V sound, it could be intended as Aves, which is Latin for birds.

What I was more concerned with, is how Tidus can claim to be so amazing and actually be really crap when you first play as him. Star Player, INDEED

All of the best Abes have been posted so the potential for a joke thread has ended :(

Finally, an insightful post that doesn't take the easy way out.

Thanks BG! :p

But they play underwater. Why name an underwater team after something that usually flies?

You could ask the same about the Gullwings.

And what about the other team names: the beasts, the goers, the fangs, etc.?

Which raises another question - What the heck is a Goer, anyway?

Someone who goes, I guess.

I always thought "Abes" was sort of like "Apes". As for Goers, I thought they're people who go, as in, walk, so I guess it's a bit like Walkers.

An Abe...heh, good question. As for the team that the Zanarkand Abes played against in the opening FMVl the Zanarkand Duggles, I have no idea what a Duggle would be either...?!?

A Duggle is a small, migratory amphibian having disproportionately large and colorful pectoral fins (in the males) used to attract mates. The most commonly known Duggle is the Heart-Faced Duggle (named for the shape of its head) found in the waters off of Western Australia.

It's fun to make stuff up...

I wonder if the other two Zanarkand teams have names just as bad. :p

Now that I think about it, it would make sense if the team name "Abes" meant monkeys. Do you remember how much the Zanarkand of FFX-2 had to do with monkeys? :D
