Does anyone else adore this movie? Sarcastic humor is the best. I've also wanted to read the book for some time now.
If you like it, share your favorite part(s). If not, get a sense of humor. :p

I love the Princess Bride. I loved the book as well. It's actually been awhile since I've read it, I might pick it up again sometime.

It makes me happy that this is on TV regularly.

Anybody want a peanut?
Yeah, I really like the movie. It's nice to watch every month or two, whenever I catch it on TV. Cary Elwes has been good in everything I've seen him in.

Best bit of the movie; "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die."
*count raises his sword as if to attack, and then spontaneously turns around and runs away*
When I first saw that, after all the build-up they had towards it, I almost broke a rib laughing.
Excellent movie. Second only to This Is Spinal Tap where Rob Reiner is concerned.

I used to watch it pretty often growing up but now I haven't seen it in years. It's hilarious.

I love this movie. The battle of wits is the best part. I memorized it, but I'm too lazy to type it.

The King: What was that for?
Buttercup: Because you have always been so kind to me, and I won't be seeing you again since I'm killing myself once we reach the honeymoon suite.
The King: Won't that be nice. She kissed me.
Inigo Montoya: I donna suppose you could speed things up?
Man In Black: If you're in such a hurry, you could lower a rope or a tree branch or find something useful to do.
Inigo Montoya: I could do that. I have some rope up here, but I do not think you would accept my help, since I am only waiting around to kill you.
Man In Black: That does put a damper on our relationship.
Man In Black: All right. Where is the poison? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink, and find out who is right... and who is dead.
Vizzini: But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You've made your decision then?
Vizzini: Not remotely. Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.
Man in Black: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
Vizzini: Wait til I get going! Now, where was I?
Man in Black: Australia.
Vizzini: Yes, Australia. And you must have suspected I would have known the powder's origin, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You're just stalling now.
Vizzini: You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could've put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied, and in studying you must have learned that man is mortal, so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.
Vizzini: IT HAS WORKED! YOU'VE GIVEN EVERYTHING AWAY! I KNOW WHERE THE POISON IS!
Man in Black: Then make your choice.
Vizzini: I will, and I choose - What in the world can that be?
Vizzini: [Vizzini gestures up and away from the table. Roberts looks. Vizzini swaps the goblets]
Man in Black: What? Where? I don't see anything.
Vizzini: Well, I- I could have sworn I saw something. No matter.First, let's drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours.
Man in Black, Vizzini: [they drink ]
Man in Black: You guessed wrong.
Vizzini: You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...
Vizzini: [Vizzini stops suddenly, and falls dead to the right]
Buttercup: And to think, all that time it was your cup that was poisoned.
Man in Black: They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder
Good Times :D

Its charm is unmatched. The comedy makes up a hundred-fold for all its cheesy sentimentality.
*Nominates "R.O.U.S. man" for best performance by an actor in a monster suit.
All of the good lines that come to mind have been taken so I'll just add:
*tumbling downhill- "Assss yoooouuuuu wwwiiiiissssshhhhhhhhh!!!"

When I was your age, T.V. was called books.
And who can forget the lip-synching part where the grandpa's voice is overdubbed onto Vinzinni's character. Haha... "Do you hear that sound, highness? Those are the shrieking eels!" "Past that, Grandpa. You already read that part."

And I just read the book a few weeks ago. All the sudden people I know are talking about it and webcomics are referencing it... it's like y'all were watching and waiting until I'd read it (though I've seen the movie before a lot as a child, I could hardly remember it until we rewatched it again today) before exploding into The Princess Bride chatter.
Silly stalker peoples.

Oh, I've known about The Princess Bride pretty much all my life. People just didn't really talk about it much unless it was shown recently or something.
Trust me when I say that if people were talking about it even before I'd read the book, I'd have known what they were talking about. Sure, my only contribution to the conversation would most likely be "Oh, I used to love that movie as a kid!", but I'd still know.

Inigo Montoya: You are wonderful.
Man in Black: Thank you; I've worked hard to become so.
Inigo Montoya: I admit it, you are better than I am.
Man in Black: Then why are you smiling?
Inigo Montoya: Because I know something you don't know.
Man in Black: And what is that?
Inigo Montoya: I... am not left-handed.
[Moves his sword to his right hand and gains an advantage]
Man in Black: You are amazing.
Inigo Montoya: I ought to be, after 20 years.
Man in Black: Oh, there's something I ought to tell you.
Inigo Montoya: Tell me.
Man in Black: I'm not left-handed either.
[Moves his sword to his right hand and regains his advantage]
intrestingly enough, i thought about this quote last night before i fell asleep :P
I love this movie! Many years ago, my 5th grade teacher and I used to quote it all the time to each other and the dumbass kids in my class had no idea what was going on. Then there was the time that I told her that I was born with 6 fingers on my right hand (I really was) and she said "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Good times
