This movie is extremely endearing.

As good as Eternal Sunshine? Not nearly.

There are plenty of things wrong with this movie. Things that just didn't come together. But the thing that makes you look over all those faults are elements of this movie that pulled at my heart and made me smile like crazy. Like I said, freakin' endearing. The characters, the music, the props. The pony! Omg, love the pony. Loved the weaving in and out of the dream world and the real world.

I loved Stéphane and his charming/childish ways. How he tried to woo Stéphanie with his beautiful little inventions. How shy and vulnerable he was.

I loved how Stéphanie went along with Stéphane and how wonderfully they got on together. And I loved her accent. :p

It broke my heart how things ended up. But it was perfect. The longing, the frustration, the fragility, it was all so perfectly done.

Michel Gondry does love so beautifully and truthfully.

I enjoyed it muchly.

And a sidenote, the previews they played with this movie were freakin' wow. Most of them were documentaries and most of them stunned me. I love it when great movies come with great previews to boot!
