Are their any artists who you can relate to? I mean, when you hear a song and listen to the lyrics and you think "Damm, thats how Im feeling right now!" or "Ive been there!"

For me it has to be P!nk. Ive always been a fan of hers, but my mum told me to listen to one of her latest songs. The song is "Who Knew" and its about the death of a friendship P!nk had. But the verses reminded my mum of my relationship and even though its about the death of a friendship, to me and her, it sounds like the death of my relationship.

If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them up
Cause they're all wrong
I know better
Cause you said forever
And ever
Who knew

If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd stand up and punch them out
Cause they're all wrong and
That last kiss
I'll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes
It harder
I wish I could remember
But I keep
Your memory
You visit me in my sleep
My darling
Who knew
My darling
My darling
Who knew
My darling
I miss you
My darling
Who knew
Who knew

Im not making this thread because if todays incident, but because since I heard it about a month ago, its jyst stuck with me. Are there any artists or just songs that relate to you or events in your life?

As simple as this song is, it completely sums up the way my life is going right now.

"Lost Realist"

My independence is calling my name
A doubtful voice divides my faith
My independence only hesitates
An unsure choice I can't embrace
You're gonna have to carve me,
Carve me from stone
Right to the bone or
I'll end up alone
Playing the role
Of someone in control

Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down everything
Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down everything

Will the dice ever roll
When will I ever know
Will the plot ever twist
Or will I still resist
I've been playing the part of a lost realist

My indepednce is turning the page
Tomorrow comes we start to fade
My independence only complicates
It's not enough to meet half way

You'll have to carve me
Carve me from stone
Right to the bone
Or I'll end up alone
Playing the role
Of someone in control

Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down everything
Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down everything

Will the dice ever roll
When will I ever know
Will the plot ever twist
Or will I still resist
I've been playing the part of a lost realist

I only keep what I give away
I only keep what I give away

Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down everything
Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down
Everything

Will the dice ever roll
When will I ever know
Will the plot ever twist
Or will I still resist
I've been playing the part of a lost realist

Why do I rush to slow down
Why do I rush to slow down everything
Why do I rush to slow down

I'd have to say Paul Simon, only without all the talent and musical skill.

Especially this song:

"Flowers Never Bend with the Rainfall"

Through the corridors of sleep
Past the shadows dark and deep
My mind dances and leaps in confusion.
I don't know what is real,
I can't touch what I feel
And I hide behind the shield of my illusion.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall.

The mirror on my wall
Casts an image dark and small
But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection.
I am blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall.

It's no matter if you're born
To play the King or pawn
For the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow,
So my fantasy
Becomes reality,
And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall.

Luv Sic pt. 3 - Nujabes
It's funny how the music put times in perspective
Add a soundtrack to your life and perfect it
Whenever you are feeling blue keep walking and we can get far
Wherever you are
Like a movie that you can't predict
Like a book that you can't resist
I sing along a song that's oh so sensual
bring along a sip to make it all so sexual
verbally that is, making love to the music means vibing to the beat at night
with the whole city fast asleep, out cold
true words seem to rise to the lips, take hold
of a poet in me, most powerfully
I feel free when the world doesn't owe it to me
It's so hard to find a gig that lives up to the billing,
trying to find a reason to work, god willing
I admit, my thinking is wishful
like a star upon a child gazing up to the ceiling
how far do we have to stretch the truth
to fit the lifestyles borrowed and overdue
we can take it all back to the register
and start all over from the canister
let's break it all down into pieces of bright
moments that pass by like a meteorite
throw on your favorite reel that's good to go
on the analog player watch the people glow
sit back to the breeze let the memories flow
comedy tragedy all the highs and lows
Like your moves that I can't predict
Like your look that I can't resist
The ting-a-ling feeling was oh so mutual
the lingering appeal was so unusual
herbally what is, medicine to a lone soul can become poison to some
with the whole body fast asleep, out cold
true vision seem to come to the eye, take hold
of a prophet in me most visibly
I see clear when the world doesn't show it to me
It's so hard to make sense in a cycle of billing,
trying to find a reason to quit and make a killing
I admit, our dealing is painful
like a star upon a child staring down from the ceiling
how far do we have to stretch the picture
before pixelating the human texture
we can take it all back to the register
and start all over from the canister
let's save it all up for an ultimate prize
homecoming gathering with a big surprise
throw on your favorite record that's good to go
on the analog table and it's hooked to blow
sit back with ease and hear the emcee flow
hi hat kick drum all the highs and lows
Um, third time's the charm, hopefully
when I chime on your door you'd still let me in
after all these years
the room that you caved in my heart is exactly the same as you left it
I realize that you have moved on
new styles and cliques like them silent flicks
I'm speechless in this golden occasion
the beautiful expression on the silver creation
this time I'd like to keep in touch
I'm a little bit wiser, a whole lot tougher
if I suffer through another nightmare tonight,
we'll chalk it up as another chapter to write, all right?
or wrong or somewhere down the middle of the road
I wanna see you again in a scene with the backdrop a perfect ten
and the music can take us back to the spot right then
from black and white to a sepia ton
some dreams come with a tint or in monochrom
from black and white to my skin tone
some dreams have a stint on the microphone
okay we can take it all back to the register
and start all over from the canister
let's break it all down into pieces of bright
moments that pass by like a meteorite
throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll
on the analog trail and you look the role
just stroll through the trees and let your miseries go
sunshine hurricane all the highs and lows
we can take it all back to the register
and start all over from the canister
let's break it all down into pieces of bright
moments that pass by like a meteorite

Yuki Kajiura is <3

Fiction
I'm living with false hope, and my eyes
just wanna see a ray of light
I'm gonna find it in my fairy tale

I hear, long forgotten broken toys
tell'n me ancient tales of a boy
I will sing of them in my fairy tale

I was just a silent girl
always dreaming of a little angel
close to my reality
sing, la la la la, la la la, la la la

The midnight sun hangs in the sky
show me your smile, my little angel
hear me, my fantasy
sing la la la..... through the night

See, how my flights of imagination
help me discover comprehension
I can find it in my fairy tale

I know, only a man can dare to dream
nothing is really as it seems
keep on telling, your own fairy tale

Now wake up, my silent girl
take to flight, like a foolish angel
sing me your fantasy
sing, la, la la la, la la la, la la la

My midnight sun hangs in the sky
the first and last wondrous invention
show me the horizon
sing, la, la la la, la la la, la la la

The summer is here, we kiss and fall in love
but we've got to go, leaving nothing here
I wanna share the memories of long forgotten love

I was just a silent girl
wishing for better understanding
this is my melody
sing, la, la la la, la la la, la la la

My midnight sun hangs in the sky
help me to tell my history
with painted scenery
sing, la, la la la, la la la, la la la

In my fairy tale
I'm living in my fairy tale...

In general, the boy least likely to, the whole album theme of not wanting to grow up, of being scared of things... the cute animals and stuff :D

"I see spiders when I close my eyes"

"Insects flutter up against my window, I don't like the way they look at me"

"I'm happy because I'm stupid, scared of spiders, scared of flying"

and stuff like that.

Also a couple of get cape. wear cape. fly's songs, one that's just kinda about the grind of life and working and getting away from it all, which I think most people can relate to, and one about just being down and saying hey, it's okay and stuff. I like sam :)

Most of Radiohead's lyrics are incomprehensible messes, but No Surprises and Let Down are two songs whose meanings are clear and easy to relate to.

It's hard, at times, for me to say I can relate to much music, because so many of the artists I listen to make wonderful music, but their lyrics are so impossible to understand that I just gave up trying to find meaning in most of them, and just sit back and enjoy the way they sound rather than trying to decipher whatever awkward metaphors they're trying to use.

Understanding what has
Happened before us
We are confined to a
Darkened hidden tomb
The conquering of our world
As we knew it
Rise above this pit
Of sorrow and pain
Among the few
We are the avant leaders
We've got to live
Through this trouble and decay

This question haunts my mind
Will we survive this night?
We're harboring the meek
Will we survive the sleep?

Unsure and scared
We are planning our reprise
Revolves around this world
We don't know anymore
The odds against us
Yet we're stronger and prevailing
Learn from mistakes
Counting souls for sale

This question haunts my mind
Will we survive this night?
We're harboring the meek
Will we survive the sleep?

i can think of lots of songs i like parts of the lyrics........... i listen to instrumental stuff............

Im not talking about lyrics you like, otherwise loads of people would have posted random lyrics. Im talking about a song or even just a line from a song that relates to you. You dont have to like the song or lyric, just that you relate to it.

I like keane very much becuase they always sing smth that relates to me! ^^ It's like I wanted to write what they say but they wrote it first!
I'll just choose three things...

First of all - Is it any wonder

I, I always thought that I knew
I'd always have the right to
Be living in the kingdom of the good and true
It’s so long, that now I think I was wrong

But sometimes
I get the feeling that I'm
Stranded in the wrong time

Secondly - Crystall Ball

Oh, crystal ball, crystal ball
Save us all, tell me life is beautiful
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Oh, crystal ball, hear my song
I'm fading out, everything I know is wrong
So put me where I belong

And third - Broken toy (even though my favourite is Atlantic I think that I don't feel lonely right now, but I still love that song and 'bedshape' from Hopes and Fears and Broken toy makes me feel sad about a guys who made me hate him!

The people you love
Are hard to find
So I think if I
Were in your shoes
I would be kind

Who says the river can't leave its waters?
Who says you walk in a line?
Who says the city change its borders?
Who says you're mine?

I guess I'm a record you're tired of
I guess we're just older now
I guess I'm a toy that is broken
I guess we're just older now
