I'm curious to see how fast everyone's internet service is at home (Download speed). I'm not including what people get at work or school because that would skew the results. Also, if you surf from your dorm room or other on university/campus apartment/dwelling, then you surf at school as it's provided by the school. :p

I like my intarnets so I pay for up to 5 mbps down. :)

EDIT: Here's a performance test to get an idea of how fast your internet is. My results range from 3-4 mbps (3000 - 4000 kb).

That's your network speed, not your internet speed.

That's the speed from your computer to your modem. Bantam is asking for the speed between your internet service provider and your modem, which is usually much lower.

I added a performance test to my first post if you want to see how fast your internet (download speed) is.

None of thos options work for me. My internet goes so fast that it loads up pages and other applications the moment I think about them. I have this cool mind link software the I stole got a a garage sale on one of my many trips to the future. In fact, I am not even typing right now, I am thinking of these words and they appear for me. I wonder if I left the oven on I better feed the cats and it does a pretty good job only putting thoughts of mine here that I only want to go shopping today? I need to clear my credit card debt first! I need scissors! 61!

At home mine is 300-400 kbps.

Here at school it's about 1 mbps.

Better than Dial-Up, but with all the properties of Dial-Up, twice the cost, and half the speed! LESS IS BETTAR!

I don't know how you guys survive. My parents have a 1.5Mbps connection and whenever I use it I get really impatient. I'm even thinking about upgrading to the 8Mbps connection my ISP provides.

Same thing happened to me this weekend. I was using the free wireless internet offered at the airport, which runs at 1.5 mbps at most, and I felt like I was back on dialup. :mog:

Having great speed sucks if there's a quantity cap so you can't actually use it. ISPs offering 8mbps with 1 GB monthly cap around here are jokers really :p 1mbps with 800 GB monthly cap is more to my liking :p (I'd have said 80, but I use somewhat more than that.)

Also, there's no option for 1mbps in that poll, which is what I have :p

Also, 10mbps duplex at work, soon to be upgraded to 100mbps with the 10mbps for redundancy :p

I took the test and got 4770 Kb.

EDIT: Lol, I just took another one and got 8987 Kb.

3828.533 Kbps (478.567 KB/sec) tonight. My connection somewhat sucks though, since the cap is at 12000 Kbps or so, but I am too far from the DSLAM to reach that speed.

I just went for the bog-standard NTL option.

100Mbps is your LAN speed.

Well I did those tests several times and I had anywhere from 600 kbs to 3'ish Mbs.

But I have NO clue what the other 5 computers on my home network that aren't mine may be doing[I know my 2 computers other than this one weren't trying to do anything online at the time]. I know all three of the others do torrent and peer download often. Plus voice convo happens alot.

This test isnt really close, I did it a couple fo times to get an average, the average was 12mbps, mind you thats uni, at home its far less, since IVe got a 56k modem.

Edit: The 12mbs average is the dorm speed, since thats where I am, and aas far as a cap goes, I either dont have one, or Ive never reached it, but last year I downloaded about 20GB a day for about 3 weeks, so the cap is either really high, or non-existant.

I'm on a 1-2mbps Unlimited plan, for only 59.95 a month (AUSTRALIAN MONEY), I can go on whenever, but after 10GIG of downloads, my speeds shaped down to 256Kbps....thats pretty much dialup lol
