Anyone taken an IQ test? Let's hear the results!

I didn't just take an IQ test, but I wondered if anyone has.

I took one in college and it told me I was a 141. So, I get stuck in all the hard classes and did horribly. My GPA was a 2.78. So, I'm thinking somewhere in the double digits is my kind of IQ.

Yesterday in my Sociological Statistics class, we calculated the percentage of people who score above 132 (genius or near genius level) on the IQ test and it was approx. 3.07% of people who score that high.

I kinda find it hard to believe that so many of you would be part of that top 3% in the world. :p

I took the Hemmlien-Nelson (or something like that) in highschool as a requirement for a summer program and scored a 144. I took a second one later (this one I can't remember the name of at all) and scored a 154.

But Sweet Angel knows what she's talking about, they don't really measure anything but how well you take an IQ test.

I agree with Miriel and hardly believe some of the results posted here are that accurate.

When i was 17 years old i took an IQ test ment for 17 year old people and got 131.

When i turned 18 i did another IQ test in a phychology college and got 134.

I think that the normal values in my country are measure between 100 and 110 below 100 is bad and above 110 means your are above average and if you have an IQ superior to 140 then it means you are highly intellegent so forgive me if i fail to believe some of the results stated here...:rolleyes2

The last time I took an IQ test, I thought it would be witty to get a 69, but I ended up scoring a 70. Guess I'm not as smart as I thought I was.

According to an Australia National IQ test, I scored a 103. However, this was when I was 13, doing the test as a 16 year old [which was the youngest age they had]. This wasn't designed to be highly accurate or anything - just a bit of a stab. But the actual result would've been a few points higher than that, considering I was taking a test 3 years before I was meant to.

So maybe 105-106. Maybe lower now that I've started consuming alcohol at a more regular basis, and am going through a stupifying process [I think it's called Preparation for College/University].

The thing is, though, online IQ tests generally up their results by 10-50 marks, to make the people feel better about themselves. This is because you'll hardly ever see one done for free - they all ask for payment in return of an in-depth study into your intelligence. And studies show that the better you feel about yourself, the more willing you are in buying something that proves that.

But another thing about IQ is that it tests various levels of our brain. My strongest aspect of intelligence has to do with my spacial mathematically portion. And problem solving. But I'm kinda average at most other forms of intelligence.

IQ itself only accurately measures the potential a person has in relation to their peers. Nothing more. Nothing less.

My dad supposedly got a 156, and that was on his transcript to the University he attended.

My mom was a 140, and my Grandma was a 166.

I also tried to botch up an IQ online test and ended up with a 66. The results screen was pretty much in pictures with minimal writing to prevent confusion.

I've never taken a real one, just those silly little internet things that are even less reliable than standard ones. I did take some strange test thingy when I was 15 to see if I had any learning disabilities. I scored "well above average" in everything but math. I also took the Canadian Test of Basic Skills in junior high and scored higher than anyone in my class (which, incidentally, scored higher than any other class in Canada).

But who really puts any stock in those things? :holmes:

Just for everybody's information, 70 is considered mentally handicapped, 100 is considered average, and 130 is considered intellectually gifted.

Anyway, when I went to a certain center, I got a score somewhere in the 160's.

When I took the North Carolina Aptitude test in fourth grade, the administrators wouldn't tell me my score either. (That's supposed to be comparable to IQ, at least that's what we were told.) They told my dad when he came to the meeting, but they asked him to not tell me until I was older. By the time I was older, he'd forgotten.

I was actually pretty shocked by the tests I took in high school, after I found out what the numbers meant. The lady who gave me mine told me to take more tests once I reached college for a more accurate total, but I don't really see the point. Everyone is gifted at different things anyways, and I'm crazy jealous of most of those things.

Well, hopefully there is going to be a competition soon. I PM'ed a Knight, asking for permission to start an IQ challenge. Meaning, the competitors take an IQ test, from the same website www.web.tickle.com (free IQ test) and then compare our results. If I can get permission to begin from any other Moderator, Administrator, or Knight, I'd sure like to get the show on the road and see some real results.

P.S.: You should take a screenshot of your score, not just say what you got.

I've taken online IQ tests. My results varied from 117 to 164. I think that tells you how accurate online IQ tests are. :p

I had to take an IQ test as part of the process for admitting me to an IEP program. While a numerical result was never revealed to me, I was described as having "superior intelligence."

Either way, as I understand it, there are far too many variations of IQ tests and different scoring scales to accurately compare scores from one test to the next. It's all a bunch of BS anyway.

Thanks. IQ tests are innacurate at the base, but they have some degree of accuracy in the final form.

A *proper* IQ test is a graded curve. The "average" score is automatically 100- doesn't matter how many you answer right, if you're average, you're 100. In as much as that is, it's accurate. Plus IQ tests are based on logical interpretation of data, no actual knowlege, so they can do that, too. It's also based on age, as adults are more mentally developed than children (theoretically).

What an IQ test really does is give an idea of your potential to quickly and accurately process complicated information. That's all. You can still waste that potential.

FYI- my IQ test anywhere between 120 and 170.... depending on what sort of test. Appearantly I'm creative/intuitive- which means I'm *extremely* good at coming to accurate conclusions without having to conciously process the data. Makes me a good artist, but a bad student. Also made the military try to recruit me into their Games&Theory stuff. Military strategy and applications of technology. No thank you, boys and girls, I have moral objections.

i won't try to quantify my intelligence ever again....iq tests are a depressingly inaccurate measure of the type of intelligence i think is important
