I think it was just part of what Hojo? did to him when "mutating" Vincent. I don't know the story about it though.

Hmm, I think it was a part of his 'mutation'. As for the Claws use, well, notice in DoC when he uses a Melee attack with his left arm and a aura is around it?

I'm thinking it makes his attacks stronger.

That's what I always thought too, cuz Vincent didn't have a metal arm in the flashbacks when he was a Turk.

ya,it might be just for show. just like the cape and the head band, they dont do anything for him. and i think wat ACTUALLY happened was....

Hojo shot Vincents arm off,so he needed a new one. i know in the flash backs he had his arm still on,but come on,it didnt show Lucrecia having sex with Hojo, right? how many people agree with me?

More or less could be the part of him that was deteriating from being preserved in that testing tube. He appeared to have been shot on his left side, chances are his arm died and Lucrecia or hojo build him an arm.

Dosen't explain the pointy shoes.

I always thought his arm was mutated by Lucrecia's experiements. Isn't the black on his arm his actual arm and then the metal around it is just a gauntlet protecting it and hiding most of it from view? Also aren't the claws attatched to his fingers? That's just what I always thought because when you see him in that cutscene waking up and looking down at his hands his arm is black and he isn't wearing the gauntlet

His entire arm might not have died, and perhaps Lucrecia or Hojo wanted to keep as much flesh as possible. They may have removed the dead tissue and added that 'claw' part as the rest of the arm and perhaps as a little tissue preserving unit to keep the little arm tissue alive.

As for the shoes, they are the furthest in the bloodstream, so they deteriate first. The 'pointed' parts are reworks of his feet, probably much like his arm.

That makes a lot of sense. I agree.

It's kinda hard to say, cuz I just happen to have a very detailed Vincent action figure :D and on the figure it looks like his hand is real, but I'm not sure. I don't know about the shoes.

I think part of his arm might be real, and some might be a robotic arm like Shalula.

If you want to get all deep n crap, i think the arm symbolizes the evil in him. I heard that the right side of a man is the pure half , as the left is the evil half. Vincent is a good person but has inner demons,as we all do but for Vincent his inner demon auctally comes out. So his right hand is normal showing his good pure half an the left, bien all claw an demony lookin, symbolizes the evil half of him....:D pretty queer but it makes sense....

as for the shoes....Vincent may just dig pointy shoes :p

Same here, but if it wasn't attached in some way Vincent would have or been able to remove it. The black part of the Claw is either a remainder of the surviving tissue or a soft prosthetic for joint simulation.

I don't think it's prosthetic, in these pictures you can see his arm from under the gold plates. I think that arm is for melee more than anything.

He deflected bullets with it. If real flesh were encased he would have reacted in pain from the vibration.

lets jus leave it at the arm jus gives him that extra 'cool' factor to his look.

His left arm is Chaos' arm.

I think he broke it arm wrestling with Sephiroth, right?

The arm doesn't contain any link to Chaos, otherweis the arm would have reverted at the end.

Maybe he cant feel pain?
