How did anyone get this far without knowing about this? It's been common gaming knowledge for at least fifteen years.

yeah i hate to sound blase and jaded, but i already knew this...and as if it wasn't obvious from the different kind of gameplay anyway....

Yeah, really. The real Super Mario Bros. 2 (released as part of Super Mario All Stars as The Lost Levels) was considered too hard for American gamers, so they stuck Mario characters in this thing and released it as Super Mario Bros. 2. I believe they later released it as Super Mario Bros. USA in Japan.

I had absolutely no idea. That was a bit of a shocker to me.

I knew about this, but I'd never actually seen the game in action. Until now.

I love the turbans.

I'm amazed at how many people are surprised by this. Pretty much everyone I know has known about this for years. I figured it was common knowledge by now.

That is so amazingly beautiful. He...he's throwing turnips at them, isn't he? And like Rainecloud said, the turbans.

I never dreamt of such wonders~

He...he's throwing turnips at them, isn't he?The turnips were carried over intact to the Mario-ized version of the game. They should be especially familiar.

And the Sniffits, and the Ninjis, etc.

The guy playing it sucks

That's intentional. :P

I like that the original Luigi character was a woman. ^_^

I know. I thought there was something I was missing when I saw it. The original game is called Doki Doki Panic is it not?

Yeh, I like this version better. More evidence SM2 was not a REAL MARIO game! People challenged me on this all the time.

It still was. Many elements from that game have been implemented in later Mario games; many of the enemies, Luigi's flutter jump, Peach's floatiness, the turnips, etc.
