How many foreign languages do you speak? And I mean enough to get around town for at least a week.
I took a year of Spanish in the eighth grade, but don't speak that much anymore. I took a year of German in the twelfth grade and came out way ahead of the class. And in that same year, I took my fourth year of Japanese, where I was one of the best. I happen to be good at foreign languages.

English, French, and German. I can't really speak German that well anymore, but I think I'd pick up on it again pretty quick if I had to. ^^

English fluently.
Cantonese semi-fluently.
German. I learnt it back in high school for four years, but it's all gone now. But it'd probably come rushing back to me if I looked back through my exercise books.

I learnt a few other languages in high school but I only did them for about half a year. French, Ancient Greek and Latin.

I'm still deciding between learning Chinese (Mandarin) and Japanese next year.

Spanish (as a first language), English, and some French. Depending if I specialize in French or Slavic studies for my MA, I will also study the cooresponding language(s).

English (first language), some French and some Japanese. I'm better at Japanese than French. I didn't pay attention in French for 2 years.

English is the only language I am fluent in. I can speak bits and pieces of Spanish and can understand some French but not enough to get by in typical conversation.

I hear Russian is very hard. Is that true?

I have heard the hardest part is how closely the sounds resemble common English. I can't offer any examples right now though. I would have to ask a friend of mine who is enrolled in a Russian college class.

I've only taken Japanese for a year and a half, which is certainly not enough to get me around town for a week. (Maybe if I had a dictionary, but even that is quite debatable.) So I'm just voting "English", rawr.

English, Irish, Papiamento.

I tried French for three years and i still don't know anything.

English is my mother tongue. French is not really a "foreign" language where I was raised. Half the the population is French-Canadian/Acadian. Also, I can read Ancient Greek. Knowing exactly what it says is another thing on of its own (I remember a little of it).

I'm in both French 3 and German 3 this year.

Hmmm... I want to learn Japanese in college, considering public school systems in Arizona don't feel that it's a practical language to learn o_o

I might take Spanish in my senior year if I have an elective available. I'd also like to learn Italian, considering how close to French it is.

English obviously, a fair bit of German....and enough Swedish to last me a week if, during that week, I am just going from person to person saying "Hi! How are you? Terrible weather, huh?"

This thread should be renamed "Foreign languages other than English" because all members are sure to know how to speak English because they know how to type them out.

I'm Chinese, so fluent Chinese and Cantonese lah.:) Good English foundation(English educated when I was a kid) and I pwn everyone in my class with my English paper. Learning Japanese for two months now. Can speak a little but have no idea how to write it out. Malay is the oficial language in my country (along with vivi_ultima, has he had mentioned as well), so it was compulsory to learn it.

English is already a foreign language to me :aimblush:

I can get around town just fine with English and Arabic (ok with local/specific dialicts and "official" Arabic). I learned French for a few years in primary school but I don't remember much of it anymore. I took Japanese for a few semesters as well but that sort of died down as I got too busy with school.

Arabic & Finnish are amongst the hardest languages to learn. If they're foreign to you that is.

I can only speak English, but I'd like to learn many different languages iin the future.

I speak and understand Korean, Japanese and English. My fluency extends to writing/reading Korean, but I've always had a problem with Japanese kanji (but please, give me a break, how often do you see Americanized Japanese learn the standard 2000 when they're living in California... oh come on).

Deutsch ist nicht sehr schwer. Aber, ich bin ueberklug.

I've always had a problem with Japanese kanji

Yeah, kanji are hard. So it makes me feel smart when I use them. But after four years of Japanese (and two of learning kanji) I know about 275 kanji when I last counted.
