Which do you prefer?

I like hardcover books when I bring the book around with me (from home to school) because bent edges on paperback books bug me. I like paperback books when I don't bring it anywhere.

Paperback because I'm a cheapskate. My copy of <u>Catch-22</u> however is hardcover.

Yeah, paperback is better cause they're waaay cheaper so you can buy more and more often. However, I do love getting hardbacks. There is something very nice about them. I find paperbacks easier to read, though, since I can bend them better and stuff

Aethstetically (I spelled this wrong, I think  ), I choose the glossy hardcovers.

But soft cover are cheaper and fit nicely into my hand when I bend them all about when I read.

The only books I've bothered to buy hardcover are encyclopedias/dictionaries/thesaurases/etc., the Harry Potter books, but only because they take too long to come out paperback. If Perks of Being a Wallflower had a hardcover edition, I'd have that.

I also have the hardcover of Catcher in the Rye, as well as a paperback copy.

Hrm...this is a tough question.

EDIT: but I choose softcover, just because they're cheaper and more comfortable to read.

I prefer paperback because it costs less, fits my hand better, has more pages, and I don't have to worry about it being damaged as much as those flashy hardcovers.

When I was younger I preferred softback because they were easy to take with me. Now I prefer hardback, they last longer.

I prefer hardback, but I usually buy soft because they're mobile and less expensive.

While paperback is easier on my poor wallet, I prefer hardcover. They look some much fancier and such. I like them.

Paperback. Hardback's are that bit more expensive, and they tend to be much more deadly and harder to carry than paperbacks.

I really do not care either way. I like paperback because it is cheaper. Hardcovers are nice though but too heavy to carry (I am talking all those science textbooks that tend to weight a lot).

Definately paper back. Cheaper and more bendable.

And finally they tend to last longer. When you read the same book elevenity billion times like I do hard covers have a habbit of thier binding going completely out. Paperbacks get REALLY worn, but tend to kept thier pages for just a bit longer.

Looking at my book collection, it consists of mostly paper back, excluding the Harry Potter books and such, but I tend to like to bend the book often when I'm reading or something.

Um... both!

I like having hardbacks cause they're just so nice. But paperbacks are easier to carry around and read while laying on your back.

I prefer hardback, but I usually buy soft because they're mobile and less expensive.

Yeah same reason for me, i just can't stand when papaerbacks flip pages and close buy themselves, that's what's good with hardcovers, you can leave them open and you don't have to hold the pages down when you read them. if only hardback was cheaper, what makes it so expensive!?

Soft! It's too difficult to hold open with a hard cover.

ANYTHING! As long as it's a book.

now that i have to carry three 1000+ page hardcover casebooks to school every day I really dislike hardcovers. I tend to prefer paperbacks anyway. the contents of a book are what matters, so otherwise might as well go with cheaper and lighter.

Paaaaaaperback (wriiiiter~)

Paperback, yeah. Hardcovers are really beautiful, but only worth buying if they have the awesome cool covers made of strange material with gold writing printed on top. Otherwise, it's all much de same.

Eep! We were discusisng this in class yesturday. Now I like paper back as you can fold the book and make it easier to read, specially when travelling. But hard backs are great cause of the jackets, but I have to remove the jacket cause I dont want to ruin it whilst reading. Hard backs can be a pain to read whilst travelling I think.

Paperback takes up less space and feels nicer to hold, in my opinion.

It's difficult to read a hardback naked.

Thus, paperbacks are superior in their flexibility and also because of their vastly reduced price.

Seriously. Get a laptop and download eBooks. Really.

It is not the same (for me). Plus my laptop is heavy. I like having a book in my hands. I find it different reading text on a computer screen than in print. I prefer print. Plus you cannot read something from your laptop while waiting for the bus outside. If you did, it would be awkward.

It depends on the book. If it's from one of my favorite authors, it has to be in hardcover. They look way nicer on my bookshelf. If I'm just reading it for the sake of reading it, paperback will do just fine. It's a thing.

Generally, I prefer hardcover.

Hardbook is better, but paperback is cheaper and thus tends to win.

Like many of you, I also like paperback since it's cheaper. And I'm all about what's cheaper. Hardback covers come with those sleeve things too, and they slide off the book when you read it and get all crinkled and such. I take them off and always lose them and it upsets me :jess:

I prefer hardcover because paperback can get torn up so much more easily.

I don't care, but I freaking hate dustjackets on hardcover books.

I like taking the jacket off of hardcover books so people will ask, "What are you reading?" and I can give a long, detailed explanation of the story so they will never talk to me again.

Hardcovers are annoying at times, but paperbacks get ruined so easily.
