View Full Version : What came first? The chicken or the egg?

The Devil Man

This morning your Friendly, Evil, Neighbourhood, Dark Lord of Destruction, Eternal Enemy of Mankind, Chocolate-Cake loving Devil Man :radred: was thinking about chickens :spin: when he was struck by an age old question that has puzzled philosophers and, er, Devil Man, for many thousands of years.

What came first? The chicken or the egg?

I have no idea! How can a chicken be born without an egg? But how can an egg be plopped without a chicken?

And do you boil your eggs, fry them or eat them scrambled?

Devil Man needs answers or he may never eat a chicken again! :crying2: Or an egg!

:save: Edited: To provide further thought-provoking discussion!

The chicken? ...just a guess :eep:

This discussion could go on forever.

The egg came first because Dinosaurs layed eggs before the chicken existed. So there.

So what came first?

The dinosaur or the egg?

How can a dinosaur be born without an egg? And how can an egg be born without a dinosaur?

Now Devil Man is more confused then ever! :(

But lets not get off topic! We are trying to solve the mystery of that most delicious of Mother Nature's creations... chickens!

Now that's a whole other question. Not on topic either. :mog:

The chicken came first.

More importantly, why did the chicken cross the road?

More importantly, why did the squirrel and the raccoon cross the road?

Bonus points to those who know where that's from.

The egg, which came from some feathered dinosaurs.

First appeared Devil Man, then the egg then the chicken... wait or was first the chicken, then the egg and then Devil Man? But remember no eggs, no chocolate cake ;)

Maybe it was the chicken... but the with no egg no chicken *thinks*

I am guessing the chicken, specifically rooster, as the verb in topic is not possible with an egg.

The Egg. The chicken evolved from a dinosaur (I think.. let's assume so...it evolved from something.) So there is a point where it is a chicken and no longer a dinosaur. So it would evolve into a chicken but would need to be born from an egg. Soo.. the egg came first... (I think so anyway....) :)

Wow some people have no lives. But still yet, I win! (http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/05/26/chicken.egg/) :p

It was the egg for you lazy bums.

Chickeney things first. Evolution, my friends! EVOLUTION!

And then it plopped out a mutant being, called a chicken.

At some point in the evolutionary cycle, and ancient bird species finally formed after many, many generations, into the genetic structure of the modern chicken. That chicken came from an egg. The egg of the modern chicken came first.

I think there was one bird that was almost a chicken that held the genes of a full chicken inside it, so the egg it laid was a full chicken.
Or something like that.
Mutation. It is the key to our evolution.

What came first? The chicken or the egg? The chicken.

But how can an egg be plopped without a chicken? It was bioengineered from the materials on hand. ;)

And do you boil your eggs, fry them or eat them scrambled? Fried, only children eat them scrambled. :D

It was the evolutionary mutant offspring from the egg layed by pre-historic tuna in the primodial ooze. Mystery solved.

The egg.

The first egg of a true chicken was laid by a creature that was almost, but not exactly, a chicken. A minor mutation in the egg's genes created something that was (essentially) a true chicken to be born from it.

Raoul Duke came first, then roundhouse kicked a dinosaur so hard that it laid a chicken (without the egg).
EDIT: Since when is there a Raoul Duke (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=chuck+norris&btnG=Google+Search) filter?

well we all came from that first single celled organism so its all a load of confusing stuff.

just as a bit of a *doink* in the dark id say the egg. the chicken had to come from somewhere. there is a real answer to this question but its all advanced science and stuff.
