Just wondering which one you guys prefer and why.

Google or Yahoo?

Google may be the worlds number one at the moment (I think) but I still swear by Yahoo. I've been using it for years for all my Internet search thingys and that aint gonna ever change.

Which do you like?

Google.

I haven't used yahoo since I started thinking critically. Yahoo loads about 99% useless info (entertainment, porn, pie, movies, etc)

I don't need that crap.

When researching something I always think of Yahoo first. Probably because I discovered/was told about it first when I started using the internet. It seems most people I know IRL think of google first.

Google. In fact, it's my homepage.

Why? Well, it always seems to find what I need, the image search tool is very useful, and the lack of images means that it will load quickly in my browser. Besides, Yahoo irritates me with it's dumb colours and annoying pictures.

I use Google, and it's my homepage as well.

I do however use Yahoo! for my main email accounts.

You k now you can sing in on a google homepage, and load it up with all the RSS feeds you want?

I get about 300 blurbs a day on it in things from Religion to science, the weather to IT, and entertainment news to Docterate Reports.

Google owns yahoo in every way possible through customation.

I use Google for most of my searches. Yahoo for local stuff, like movie theaters, places, show times, etc...

Yahoo is great to search for recent news though. Much better than Google news!

Google news take almost 24 hours to add new stuff. You would only find 9/11 articles on google news on 9/12 :rolleyes2 On Yahoo it shows up an hour or so after.

But the killer search for recent happenings is Technorati
http://www.technorati.com/

I use Google for my searching, but Yahoo is used for pretty much everything else it has to offer.

Why is that? O-o;

For some reason I prefer yahoo.ca over yahoo.com...Do not ask why. I find I prefer the results from the Canadian one, though they are 99.99999% the same. Also it helps when I am doing local searches so I can only get Canadian sties.

Google by far. No adverts (well, no noticeable ones), faster loading, searches more websites etc. The only main difference is that Google uses a different set of criteria to Yahoo when deciding what pages to show you.

I use <s>Google</s> Roogle myself. I think it's a pretty good search engine, even though I'm not a fan of IE's Google Toolbar at all. I also like Firefox's Google feature where you can just type some keywords to your address bar, and it will automatically load the #1 Search Result that Google found. I don't use Yahoo much, although when I use something like Yahoo's currency converter, I use Google to find that page first. :p

I used to use Yahoo a few years ago until I found out about Google, which after trying out was a lot nicer, in terms of results and visually - Yahoo pages are filled excess bloat :p

Yahoo loads about 99% useless info (entertainment, porn, pie, movies, etc)

I don't need that crap.Sounds about right for Yahoo lately :p

search.yahoo.com = fast loading for those who complain about www.yahoo.com

Yahoo!: Offers suggestions for refining your searches, better display for results, better result ordering*, lets me know if I have new emails, option to display pdf files as html files, better category system, direct link to audio/video searches, local searches.

Google: Far less advertising. I also use Google News for email updates. Faster loading, although this is noticeable on my connection so it doesn't matter to me. The difference in size between search.yahoo.com and www.google.co.uk is minimal.

* come on, Google - "finalfantasyeternal.com/" ahead of "Eyes on Final Fantasy - The Largest Final Fantasy Resource Online"? Please!
