Seriously, will someone tell me why this rule actually exists? Your allowed to make a welcoming thread, but no goodbye thread? What if your leaving, as in actually leaving and not coming back and you want to create a goodbye thread?

Oh and Seriously, I want an answer.

Well RAEBUS!! XD, you can't make either threads. And that rule is inplace because I'm sure all the people would be like "I'm leaving EoFF because Rye licked my earlobe/loony bob kissed my goat/etc" and other dumb reasons, then come back the next day. It'd spam up GC.

I used to go to a forum where one obnoxious prick would do something stupid, get in a big huff, and then make a goodbye thread every week or two. He was just banned after a while. Good riddance.

Threads that will get you Banned are a form of saying goodbye

Warn the people who come back a few days later then for spam, and not the people who don't come back?

Maybe the idea is that if you're saying "goodbye" you won't be able to read the answers to your post in that thread, so what would be the point?

Perhaps it shows how loved you were? To anyone who looks at it.

Edit: Or ya know, to say goodbye to people who he wouldnt have on msn/aim/yahoo? Or just to say good bye.

Because if that were the case, people who leave wouldn't post obscene materials to get themselves banned.

So all of the people who willingly leave post obsene porn? Maybe they just leave because they won't be able to get online again/on a pc/die and won't need to post porn to get banned?

Goodbye threads might work. I mean, if the person is leaving, it could tell the Staff some possible problems with the forums.

I think making some amazing kickass thread which is guaranteed to get archived and result in you being banned would be the best way of saying goodbye. It's how I'd wanna go.

An awesome amazing kickass thread in the form of a goodbye thread?

Exactly. If you made one, you'd probably mention Leeza (judging by your sig ), and a various array of swear words. What a way to go.

We don't allow "I'm leaving" threads because they're attention-whoreish and we don't want about ten threads a day about someone who's leaving the forum for a few days, it'd get cluttered and irritating.

I think if you're going to leave permanently, you should make an entertaining exit. A simple goodbye thread is just plain boring. So since they're not allowed, this might make people create more interesting departures. Plus if it were allowed, there probably would be loads of sickening threads that would go something like:
I'll miss you guys :sob: don't ever forget me k?
Don't go!!!!!! I'll CRY! *crying*
I have to :crying2: I need to concentrate on my studies *huggles Rikkubabe7654342323*

Good point.

Okay so this rules in place for a purpose. On the plus side, this thread wasnt closed imediately. You can close it if you want.

Goodbye threads aren't allowed because they're silly.

Most of the generally well-liked members who leave EoFF, don't leave in the "Today is the day I stop going to EoFF." They leave gradually, having other things to occupy their time, and eventually, you just don't see them posting anymore.

The people who do the whole, "Today I'm gonna stop posting at EoFF and I'm gonna make a huge post about it!" are the people who have some major gripe, got into some squabble with other members, is somehow disgruntled with this place, and all they want to do is make a fuss. We don't care much for fuss-making.

And then there's a whole lotta people who do the goodbye thread *only* so they could have people say, "don't goooo! We love you!" And those kinds of people are the most infuriating off all because they didn't really intend on leaving, they just wanted attention and people to "convince" them not to leave. And they are whores for doing that.

And off course a great deal of people who would do the "goodbye" thread eventually come back. It's that whole, "I HATE YOU ALL AND I'M LEAVING THE INTERNET FOREVER!" thing and they end up coming back 2 weeks later. Pfft. Whores.
