OMG I love this movie I just had to announce. How about you all?

The reason I love it so much is because of the music. I love it!!!

Oh, and Shuna, I think I already know what your answer is. ;)

None of your poll options apply.

I thought it was absolute . It was like watching schizophrenia devouring a sane mind over the course of a year, compressed into two hours. It was violently offensive to my senses and it is a blight on Nicole Kidman's career.

It is one of very, very, very few things I would eradicate from existence if I were able to. I assure you, coming from me, that is rather graver than it sounds.

Wow haha. I don't think I would expect any less from you. :)

Everyone's entitled to an opinion.

Great visuals, great sound track, awful story. The story was just bad. Like wow bad. Like omg who pissed this out? bad. But everything else about it was fab.

We did the music for a band show once....><

Like an acid trip with singing.

I just saw a bit of it so I can't really tell much but people use to say that is good....

I thought it was okay, but it was a bit on the boring side.

The soundtrack was good, though.

I've never seen it. I don't really like musicals - I find them hard to sit through. But I may check it out just for the fact Ewan McGregor is in it.

If you love Ewan, chances are you'll at least think the movie is ok. He plays a really good role.

I got bored with it within the first 15 minutes or so, and stopped watching it.

It was kind of boring at first, but I'd say try and watch it all. :( You can't make an accurate opinion on something you've only watched the rather slow beginning of. :P

Yeah, it gets better.

How on earth can you get bored in the first half an hour or so of Moulin Rouge?! The first third of the movie is fantastic, completely manic and compelling. I love the film as a whole the only problem is that first third unbalances the rest of the movie as you keep waiting for something to top it and nothing does (Jim Broadbent singing Like A Virgin comes petty close though). Baz Luhrmann's frantic editing and the like tends to induce adulation and contempt in equal measures, but I love his films. Was robbed at the Oscars too (A Beautiful Mind? hah! - and then the mediocre Chicago comes along the next year and wins tons of Oscars despite being nowhere near as good a musical)

I love, love, love that movie. I was completely shocked when I watched it, because it looked so incredibly stupid. Which, it kind of was, but for me that's the beauty of it.

I think Moulin Rouge is a very good movie. The music and the musical scenes are really good, and I like the overblown fantasy aspect in them (such as the singing moon and whatnot). I'm amazed Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman could actually sing that well. The storyline is quite emotional, and overall the movie was enjoyable.

Oh, I assure you, the constant and limitless torment I endured was not boring.

I can think of precisely zero movies this could beat at the Oscars. Not even Uwe Boll is this bad.

The first time I watched it I thought it was mediocre. But the more I started thinking about it, the more I thought....man. What the hell WAS that. I pretty much agree with Shlup on what she said. It was so pretty! But there was nothing there. No depth. Plah.

I thought it was interesting how they put popular songs and meshed them into the storyline. I loved the scenery, but thought the movie as a whole was meh.

I think it's a pretty unconventional musical/movie as far as they go, and that gives it something unique. I love the songs they use, and both lead McGregor and Kidman sing amazingly well. (McGregor's rendition of "Your Song" = amazing. Even Elton John said so, eh?!)

The storyline isn't the greatest, but that's not to dismiss the whole thing as e, because it's something well worth watching, not to mention highly entertaining and a great piece of cinematography too. :D And it's granted that not everyone is a fan of Brechtian techniques either, so it's little wonder.

I loved it. :p

Awful. Forget about Ed Wood being the worst director of all time, I'd hand that award straight to Baz Luhrman. Twice.
