How are the two games related? I've played through CT many, many times, and I've played a great deal of CC. Serge has turned into Lynx, Kid has died, etc...

I know that in one seen you see some quickly flashed pictures. They seem to be pictures of Lucca from CT, but drawn by a little kid or something...

So other than that, how are the two game connected?

CC is a sequal of CT. Forgive me if my little spoiler hear is off, Haven't played cross for a while.

Before Lavos was defeated, he pretty much made a backup of himself. That was the Frozen flame. In one Timeline, Fate was created to manage the future and all futures of this planet. However Fate couldn't control one Aspect, the Frozen Flame. Chronopolis, the place where fate Was created, sealed away the Frozen Flame. In Chrono Cross, the main character came in contact with the frozen flame and was chosen by it. Serge, the main character, was no longer under control of fate. Lynx was sent by the Frozen Flame to Serge, who being the last Person Chronopolis registered as entering during the time its power went down, the same time serge came in contact with the flame. Serge was now the only one who could access the Frozen Flame.

Thats what I can remember now, please correct any mistake I may have made.

Schala (from CT), when she dissapered in Zeal was actually bound to Lavos, creating a being known as the Time Devourer. In order to help Serge destroy the Time Devourer (the outcome of the "good" ending of the game), Kid is created by Schala. Kid is a clone of Schala and present only in the "other world", which was created as a result of Serge's contact with the Frozen Flame, which made two worlds, the normal one where Serge survives, and the other where Serge doesn't. Kid was brought up by Lucca in an orphange (there's an allusion to this for the ending FMV for CT for the PSX which basically shows the baby Kid being found by Lucca). The area where the game takes places is within the world of CT, but in a seperated area which is completely cut off from the mainland of CT.

Cut off from the mainland of CT? But... I have Epoch! Nothing is beyond my reach! Not even that stupid cave with the sunlight and all that! Or that castle with that ghost knight who sucks!

CC is not really a sequel. It is more of a spin off.

You learn a lot about the connections when you go to the Sea of Eden/Sea of the Dead (Chronopolis). In fact, you go to a replica of Lenne Square and you see what would happen if Lavos came. It's all really complicated:

Lucca: "Led by the pitiful crying the young Serge made as the panther demon's poison took hold of him... Princess Schala traveled ten thousand years in time to try and make contact with this dimension! This caused a raging magnetic storm that resulted in FATE's system malfunction, which led Serge to the Frozen Flame."

Seriously, there's so much complicated crap it'd take me a year to figure out.

Not really. The Chrono Cross story depends way too much on Chrono Trigger for it to be a spino off.
