Ok, I unfortunately don't have links to details, as the internet at my job is fairly restricted. However, I just read on a hacked version of Kotaku I manage to read that there will be an open Beta for Phantasy Star Universe on the 360 released onto the Marketplace on Oct 11+12 ONLY. It lasts until the 18th, a week before the game is released.

Awesome.... but I don't know if I'll have enough space. Something worth deleting the Halo 3 trailer for I suppose.

I've been playing in the closed PC beta for a week now. It's decently fun, but I wouldn't go through the effort to download it. However, I haven't been able to spend much time playing with other people (since few people are in the beta and I'm lazy and am never on at the right times) so there's not a lot to do but level grind, which gets old fast. With more people, it could be considerably better.

It's not over yet, but it was invitation only. So your chance to play it is over, I suppose, unless you know one of the people who got into it.

Now that I'm home and am able to research official info it seems the beta release date was changed from a set date to 'very soon'

Still, a premium XBox 360 still sounds too pricey, even in Canada.

Apparently the beta is up for download now. Muliplayer-only.

Odd timing, as Xbox Live is gonna be down for most of October 17th apparently (day before Beta ends).

The Canadian Dollar was at 0.90 Vs the US dollar a few weeks ago...

But still 360 is not worth the money... I'll just get the PC version...

this is true, but the prices aren't just due to exchange rate. there is the extra cost of shipping and distribution. also a lot of things vary in price, like say....gas ?

i'm not paying to get it repaired...think i might just take it to wal mart...

This whole 'Demo for a week, wait a week, then buy the game' thing is genius. That waiting week gives people enough time to say their final farewells to friends and family before being shut off.
After playing the game for about 13 hours this weekend, I have to put it down. Not only because it was sucking away time, but I suddenly realized that all this effort I'm putting into the demo character won't be transferred. Meh. I spent about 6 of those hours in the first dungeon, because I didn't realize that there was a 2nd dungeon immediately after the first dungeon, and the monsters in the other areas were way too strong. That freakin' techno song is stuck in my head.

If you liked PSO, you will like PSU. It is greatly improved in many ways, and probably more that I haven't even tried yet.

I saw you online for a while yesterday playing. :D I tried to get into it, but couldn't. Honestly, I'm afraid of MMOs. I don't want to get addicted. I was playing Splinter Cell Double Agent multiplayer for a couple hours, though.

Holy crap, there's a Double Agent demo out? I have a feeling I'll enjoy that more than Phantasy Star. :p The best thing about the beta was the t-shirt they sent me. :D Or maybe the free 360 controller...>_>

Does the 360 version have any lag problems?

I never played any of the Splinter Cell's online before. I gotta say I'm really enjoying it. The gameplay sort of reminds me of this HL2 mod called The Hidden.

I've lagged a bit, but that's probably because my brother was on the computer playing a game online too.
