Boom! It's that time again! Devil Man Poll time!

A quick Poll!

Do you donate to charity? Yes or No?

If Yes, which Charities do you donate to (or sponsor?) and how long have you been doing so for?

If No... why not?

Devil Man, despite a Post in another one of his truly excellent and fantastic high quality Threads, DOES donate to charity. He coughs up £20.00 a month to Shelter (A Charity in the UK which helps homeless people). I don't do it to feel good about myself. I do it because I want to.

What about you guys? Do you pop money into a collection box? Or do you sponsor a charity?

All the freakin time. Sometimes I give more than I can, and I myself become charity.

I sometimes donate to the fire department. My mom doesn't like it when I do though.

No. I earn my money through relative hard work and I do not feel like giving any other person on this planet a free ride. If someone wants money, they need to get a job. Or find some other way to get an income. Nobody needs charity.

Homeless folks have their cans. I will let them have my soda can after I am done drinking it if they want.

I'll throw some change in the Salvation Army buckets around Christmas time, but that's about it.

Of course I do. I used to live off of some minor welfare benefit called wic. I know how rock bottom feels, and I appriciate not being there anymore.

Yeah, that's it for me, too.

I sponsor my family every single day. :/

As for Charities? I give small amounts now and again.

Generally the answer is no, but I did give a substantial donation to the Boxing Day Tsunami Relief Fund a couple of years ago.

Whenever I'm asked to donate for a cause or relief fund, I gladly give money.

But donations in church are always limited to a dollar. It upsets me when my church says they're building towards a $300,000 mark.

I'll go tell AIDS research to check the classifieds.

Whenever I see those little cans asking for money for the Janeway or whatever, I always throw in the change in my pocket.

Not really. Rich people and celebrities should. It's obvious, the amount of money they make. And why give away £1000s on a game show? What's EVER the point of that? None of those people really need it anyway. Most of the people complaining about charity should just stop wasting money on other stuff.

I do sometimes, but it wouldn't hurt at all if I gave away some more money.

I do when I think the cause is worthy. I've read too much about scandelous charity organizations so I'm wary about just giving money away. And I like to help out myself rather than just handing away money.

If I was at a newsagent and had a few coppers spare, I'd put them into one of those little cans. Coppers arent much use to me, I dont give much more than that, Im tight.

I do when I can. And when a new cause gets me fired up, I tend to volunteer and donate more.

I only have allowance and part-time job money to work with right now, so I don't give often to charity. When someone I knew died of cancer, I gave 60 dollars to cancer research, which was all I had at that moment. Since then I haven't. So I chose "Not yet but I will start to do so soon," as in I don't regularly, but when I have a proper job I will.

Kind of. I don't go out searching for charity things or something, but if I see donation baskets or whatnot, I give what I can.

Nope, I dont really care about most charities, and if its such a big deal, youd think the rich folk, with money than is needed, would donate, but no.

As im a regular person that barely gets enough to do anything, no way am I just handing it to some random peiople to help some random people I dont know, nor care, about. Obviouslly, I come before all others, but if I end up rich someday, I will probably donate the unneeded extras. But who am I kidding, I'd probably get corrupted by wealth and become greedy.

I have done and will continue to do so. Probably not enough to make me a particularly good person, but I try. I also visit TheHungerSite.com and affiliates regularly.

Not a dime. When I feel like spending money on someone I buy my friends or family or myself a present.

Giving money to the fire department doesn't count as charity in my book, seeing as how they may drag me out of a burning building someday in return. I give them money, yeah.

I'm a sucker for animal welfare organizations. They send me things in the mail, and I always end up sending back like $20. Sometimes it my money... sometimes it isn't. But they know I'm easy prey, so I get like two things month from each of them...
