Now im sure everyone who is on this site must have seen FFVII AC, now if Square decided to do a film or a game based on FFVIII what would you like to see happen in it? Rinoa dies? World gets overrun with Chocobos? All women are soceresses?
You tell me?! :p

this has been discussed already and I think it was agreed that I put it best as to what happens at the end of the storyline in one of the threads located here (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=88313&highlight=Iceglow) basically there really isn't much ground for a sequel to VIII as much as I love the game there isn't too much to do most of the questions of the story line are wrapped up and the end credits shows what happened to the characters (enough that there is no opening for a new story) Therefore what you suggest is pretty pointless to discuss.

Yea but you would of said the same about FFVII, they wrapped the storyline up, then brought in the problem of Geostigma! If there alive then there can be another storyline  thats just what i think?

Oh man, don't bring ff7 into this topic, it's like using a silent whistle that attracts a group of fanboys. I agree though, theirs no reason to create a sequel, leave it as it is.

Yeah that's why the plot of Advent Children sucked.

I think that they should make a sequel game to FFV111 like they did with FFX. The end of 8 just showed sum video camera crap that really dosent seal the deal i guess. They should use the chacaters, same GFs same magic and battle system as well as the junction system, but make a more bad-ass story line but go and re-ferbish the graphics an sounds, making everything look smoother and more deatiled.

I liked 8 better than any other FF becasue of the GFs. Truth be told there arent as many summons like in FFV11, with the almost endless list of materia, but there look and there entrance and attacks were untouchable, mainly Diablos.:D

A'yo people, I'm a new member and it just so happen I acutally thought of a sequel a while back. Check this out! Rinoa and Squall has a son and daughter and the entir family goes missing in an war aganist some new bad guy who has taken over Ester. The son rounds up a party with people like Shifer's son and a older Zell and goes searching for Rinoa Squall and his sister disobaying garden rules. He advenually finds his parents and finds out that his sister later becomes sorceress Ultamacia. I even thought of the battle system. It will have a Final Fantasy 10-2 battle system and summoning is almost the same. What's diffrient about the summons is that the main character, Squall's son, can become the GF by summoning with his limit break. But due to the fact that in my idea his the only character in the party that has become an up to date SeeD, he can only do it. Well, what do y'all think?

Final Fantasy VIII-2, THE PERFECT SEQUEL IDEA:

Zell is tired of Balamb Garden hotdogs. A man can only eat the same kind of hotdog for so long before he needs change. Something new. Something different. Something exciting!

Quistis tells him of a perfect hot dog called "The Glowing Hot Dog of Doom." He must have it. His tongue aches to have its taste. He sets out on a sail boat with Quistis to locate this perfect hot dog.

They sail the high seas, having many misadventures together, and collecting clues. Eventually they discover PuPu was mistaken as a hot dog and there is no Glowing Hotdog of Doom.

PuPu is pissed off for being mistaken as a hotdog, which is nothing more then a big metaphor to explain Zell's sexuality anyway, and eats Rinoa. With Rinoa inside, PuPu transforms into an all powerful sorceress named Ultimecia and proceeds to Kurse all SeeD. THE END.

That, or a new threat comes about and Squall and company have to combat it. That works too.

I would actually like a sequel though :jess: I'd like seeing Squall and Rinoa as a couple now that all their romantic woes are dealt with and are actually together. But I'm just like that :grover:

I don't know, if it's bad it could destroy the game. I change my answer to no, because it's too much of a risk. To me, FF8 is the best game i played. A remake on the PS3 however, would be perfect!

There should be a sequel to ff8 because it was so much better than ff7
besides ff8 is my favorite ff well my 3rd but any way as I was saying (typing)I think it really needs a sequel cause it ends at the wrong time what i mean is it ends with thr final Boss giving her powers up to edea
then it goes to the credits. That way i think it needs a sequel causer it leaves out what happens to edea afer she recieve sorsiris(sp)powers again.does she turn evil or remain goodd

Umm, we already know what will happen to Edea. She'll be good, then get possessed by Ultimecia from the future, then give her powers to Rinoa and be good everafter.

I think the only way a sequel to FFVIII could be redeemable in any way, shape, or form, is if it featured none of the characters from the original, and simply took place in the same world. Well, Zell could stay. It should just be about Zell. Driving those silly little cars around or something. Yeah, that would be entertaining.

Squall discovers his arm pit fetish and spends teh entire game trying to hump Rinoa's arm pit. Rinoa says something about Squall being weird, but he just says something about it being for the greater good. Ultimecia returns and says that she want in on the action. The party tells Ulty that she has to drop that whole lame pronouncing "C" stuff with a "K". After all this is Final Fantasy, not Mortal Kombat.

So where was I? Oh--yeah, some sexy stuff goes down for awhile. Though, all the stuff is weird fetish stuff, and I think this may be the first FF game that will be rated Adult. ****, if they thought the whole "Hot Coffee" was bad, wait untill the see some hot, sexy FF action!

Which reminds me of this funny story one time. edczxcvbnm and I were playing Parasite Eve. We had a Cure song on called "The Kiss", which features a very dramatic guitar. The scary thing was that the song synched with the opening FMV where everyone gets burned to death because of the midiclorians or something. Yeah, that was pretty screwed up.

So what does this have to do with FFVIII-2 or anything else? Well, Parastive Eve was a testing ground for FFVIII. I mean, if they made PE3 (that's Parastive Eve 3--NOT Physical Education 3rd period) it would be, like, a testing ground for FFVIII-2. Like, it would be all cool.

Man, why does Squall wear that Charlie Brown shirt in all those flashbacks. I mean, all those scenes were dramatic...and the only thing I could think of is Squall going, "Sis...where are you?...Good Grief!" as he goes to kick a football and Selphie pulls it out right before Squall kicks it.

Maybe that should be the whole sequel! I mean, what if everyone decided to play pranks on Squall? They would sit there and count how many times he says "Whatever..." I mean, Squall feels all better now, right?

Anyway, yeah, I think they should totally make another Indiana Jones movie.

I think that maybe, another war should start, But maybe it's something that Seifer had started and it has something to do with Rinoa. I think it should be at least two or three years into the future. Getting to see new characters and all. I think that would be wonderful.

all honesty from the ending of VIII where Seifer is at the great lake and Garden goes past and he's all smiles and stuff do you really think he would walk off and go start another war. Also wars require armies Esthar is ruled by president Laguna so we can rule that one out completely. And Gabaldia I do believe has had enough of Seifer and his wars as their general and sorceresses knight.

I think you might have a good idea Sephex! :D

All i know is that i thought FFVIII was one of the ultimate games. It had eye wideing cenimas good gameplay and a looong amount of game play and it was challenging too. It took me like 3 mounths to beat it! an even then Omega weapon kicked my ass and Ultimica kicked my ass a couple of times...

Actually there's plenty of room for a sequel, just not something immediate, maybe something moreorless in the distant future with different characters.

A prequel would be more appropriate to me.

Exactly. First Sorceress War versus Adel, with Laguna, Kiros, and Ward. Then we could get into that story, plus the parents of the future characters.

The best suggestion in this thread so far imo. Making a sequel to a game pretty wrapped up by the story is pretty stupid, but to make the prequel to the game starting with the Timber war and going through to the end of the first sorceress war. As long as they tagged the graphically updated version of VIII on too it would be brilliantly

Ya know what, i agree as well thinking about it! Making a prequel would be a great idea, it would be intresting to see how the first sorceress war went in more depth! Good Idea! but seriously do u think Square will actually make it? The only thing is though imo i would of specifically liked to see what squall and the gang looked like in next gen graphics that would be a downfall maybe

There have been discussions about a Laguna prequel before. I agree it would be neat, although the storyline would be more restricted than a sequel.

What I'd like to see in a sequel would involve the origins of Ultimecia.

My ideas:

Ultimecia starts out as young SeeD a generation or two beyond Squall and Rinoa. A spoiled aristocratic type, she'd be disliked by most of her classmates. She joins an elite squad to take out the sorceresses, unaware of her own bloodline.

So she would feel personally betrayed by her SeeD friends when she inheirits her sorceress powers. Her only ally would be her knight, another SeeD, a hunter that she has a stormy relationshiop with. His greatest ambition is to hunt down and slay Tiamat (and maybe Griever), thus preventing Ultimecia's ascent (since many of the details of her life would be known to future generations).

The elements that would bring about her ascention (the discovery of her castle, the corruption of Tiamat, the creation of the juction machine) would come about, and their attemepts to prevent them from coming to pass would actually facilitate them, like a Greek tradegy.

Maybe I should just write a fanfic. :rolleyes2

Anyway, I think that the most likely plot for a sequel (rather than a prequel), would follow directly from the original and it would consist of trying to correct the temporal instability that Squall's actions caused. Namely, the paradox of SeeD.

Since Edea got the idea from Squall, and Squall got the idea from Edea, it forms a paradox. The information has to come from somewhere. That being the case, there is a definite possibility that a number of unstable dimensions came into being due to this oversight. The one they seemed to be in at the end, with no Ulti and a "happily ever after" ending, but probably also one in which the idea never existed in the first place, so that there was nothing to stop Ulti, and she rules that timestream. Now, with all the dimensions and the various space/time anomalies trying to settle, the two worlds are competing for existance. But both are unstable, due to the paradoxical nature of their existance. So the heroes must not only find a way to stop the worlds from tearing each other to pieces, but also a way to correct the instability inherent in their own dimension's existance.

Yeah, heroes can do some pretty stupid things sometimes.

From the last few sequels threads.

The story takes place a about a year later after the game ends (Yeah, I know it's cliche and similiar to Advent Children but I can't allow too much time to pass or it just won't work). Squall is trying to restore SeeD with the help of Selphie (Head of the Trabia Garden restoration) and Seifer (head of the Galbadia restoration, though there is a lot of bad blood between the other schools about Seifer being in charge so Irvine is also their helping).

With Centra returning from it's isolationism the other countries have become very agitated and worried especially since Centra is far more advanced than the other countries. President Laguna brings a message of peace but the other countries are too scared to think straight. After Galbadia had ravaged the other countries and with all but one Garden still left to hire SeeD from, the other countries begin to have clashes with each other in hopes of building enough military power to counter Centra (cue new villian who takes advantage of the political uprisings) Squall takes it upon himself to try and stop these clashes from getting out of hand. With the few remaining SeeD, Squall is constantly battling around the world. In order to do this, Squall must use the GF's. As the battles wage on Squall slowly begins to lose himself. The GF's power steals his memories and he's beginning to forget small things. Zell notices first (he's always on the frontline helping) but he makes a promise to Squall that he will try to keep Rinoa from knowing about it. Eventually Squall even begins to forget about her.

Meanwhile, Seifer begins to see more of Rinoa. He's been given patrol duty to fight off all the monsters from the Lunatic Pandora incedent. Rinoa is helping to restore Winhill and Timber. They begin to reminisce about their former relationship but issues arise when soldiers belonging to the New Galbadia government (led by our villian) try to capture Rinoa "the Successor of the Sorcerous" Seifer protects his "princess" like a Knight would and their relationship begins to become complicated. Seifer eventually escorts Rinoa to Balamb Garden to be protected by Squall whose memory is becoming even more fractured. Rinoa sadly watches as Squall begins to destroy himself slowly by relying too much on the GFs. Seifer battles his own personal feelings about Rinoa. Eventually an attempted assasination on Laguna leads to Rinoa being captured by the villian. Rinoa is used as a unifying force for the freightened countries and it seems a world war is enevitable. Squall and company join forces with a more moderate faction within the Galbadia government and try to overthrow their new Prime Minister and rescue Rinoa. Meanwhile Laguna and his cronies are trying to stop the Centra government from entering the war and return to peacetalks.

By the end, the villian has taken Rinoa's powers which leads into a massive battle that ends with Squall sacrificing the last of his memories to rescue Rinoa. In the aftermath, Squall continues to battle cause it's all he seems to know. Rinoa is devastated and watches as Seifer, who can no longer stand by and watch Squall hurt Rinoa's feelings, fights his rival in an epic battle. Squall begins to question who he is and why he is fighting, for whom am I fighting for. Rinoa's voice finally reaches him and Squall breaks free from the GF's curse. A long overdue kiss, some clapping, and we roll credits which show various scenes like Laguna shaking hands with the new Galbadian President, Zell and his girlfriend, Irvine and Selphie finishing up their repective schools. Cid and Edea's new orphanage, and any other heartwarming thing you would want.

There are some possibilities for FFVIII to have a sequel, this was my idea. :mog:

Alright!! I Have an more detailed idea of my last one. 19 years has passed since the last game and a lot has happened. Squall and Rinoa has had children. So did Seifer. and Squall's son has just been excepted into SeeD at Balamb Garden. After the excepteance party, he's been givin' guard duty which he thinks is a waste of his time. Meanwhile, the new president of Ester is killed by a new sorceror. Notice, I put sorceror not sorceress. Which means this new villian is a guy. He then starts an uproar throughout the entire planet talking about the time of the ultimate salvation is upon us and Ultimacia will deliver us all. Squall and the rest of the gardens are in shock. They never thought they hear that name again! So, They form a resistance to battle this new threat when they find out that their new enemy is Edea and Cid's son how has been missing for quite some time. Squall's son becomes furious because he's still stuck with guard duty when he over hears a conversation from his superiors about Squall, Rinoa, and his sister is missing and could have possibly been captured. He then disobay garden commands and goes looking for his family with a group of organized fighters like and Older Zell, Seifer son, and some new characters with the help of orinigal characters on the way. During his time of sourching for clue to the whereabouts of his family, a lot of situations where he is force to us the new technique where SeeD are able to combine with there conjucted GFs which is slowly intensefying some unknown condition he has contracted by during so. After finding enough clues he then returns to garden to face get help for infiltrating Ester. But he instead finds himself being captured by garden from disobaying their rules in the first place. He escape by using and unknown power triggered by using the GF combination. After he escape he and his party members try to figger out what the hell happened and they come across the television broadcast where Edea's son is calling his sister Ultimacia. I have more but unfortunally, y'all gonna have to wait 'till next time I log in.

Sorry, we can't leave it alone. WE....MUST.....HAVE......MORE!!!!!!!!! MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, here is the rest of my idea. After Squall's son and his party finds out that Edea's son catured his sister calling her Ultimacia, they go straight into divising a plan to get her back. But they know they can't do it without help. So, they go to Trabia Garden seeking help from garden master Selphie. When they get there, they find it in complete chaos with monsters runing all over the place. After Squall's son and the rest of the party help out, Selphie agree to help them out with the assistance of SeeD from that garden. And she then tells Squall's son to stop using the new metheo of summoning because it graually effects the spirit negetively. After some well needed rest, Squall's son and the party proceeds towards Ester with Trabia Garden's aid. They reach the central plains to find a battle field of SeeD fighting GF's. That's right. GF's. Squall's son and party pushes onward into Ester to find Squall and Rinoa fighting a hell of a lot of monsters by themselves. Squall's son and party helps Squall and Rinoa and reunites. Squall's son then scolds Squall saying why did'nt he protect my sister. Why did'nt he protect your daugther. But to Squall's son surprise Squall nor Rinoa knew their daughter was captured. So, they all push onward and confronts Edea's son as Squall's daughter stands by his side. Rinoa attempts to call out to her daugter but she does'nt move still standing by Edea's sons side. Squall's son and party instantly think Edea's son brainwashed her a goes right into the boss battle with Edea's son. But Edea's son is too strong for any of them. Including Squall and Rinoa! Squall's son then uses the GF combination summoning the same mysterious power which got them out of captivity at balamb garden. Squall's daughter then whispers "The ultimate GF". Edea's son looks at Squall's son in shock saying to himself "GF Gravier?! Impossible!!! That's my power!!!!" They begin another boss fight with Edea's son again and Edea's son manage to beat Squall's son. Edea's son then says," GF Gravier huh? HAHAHAHA!!!" and suddenly, Squall's daughters hand goes straight through Edea's sons body killing him instantly. She absorbs his sorceror powers and tosses his lifeless body aside like trash. She then look at Squall's son and the others as they watch her in shock and she says," Once I have the power of the ultimate GF, This world will bow down to my infinite power. Come to me Gravier." Squall's son begin to feel dizzy and the building begin to collapes. Parts of the roof fall on top of Squall's daughter covering her entire body. Rinoa breaks in tears thinking she's dead and they all escape before the roof falls on them. Two days later, Squall's son find himself laying in his bead in balamb garden replaying that entire screen in his head thinking to himself," GF Gravier? What the hell am I?" suddenly, the entire planet began to sake. Squall's son rushes outside to find a giant castle floating in the sky on chains. That's right it's Ultimacia's Castle from the end of the original FF8. Squall's son and party are called for briefing by Squall and Rinoa. Squall then explain that things are begining to look exactly as it did when they crossed over to Ultimacia's time 19 years ago. Squall's son and party have a hard time understanding so Squall calls for a specialist that continue the doctor that spells all his S with Z. I forgot got his name. Anyway, Here the tricky part. the specialist explains that the reason this time period is begining to look like the time period Squall and the others visited is because this is the time period they visited. Squall then say," But in the time period we seen, they were dead SeeD everywhere. It was like Ultimacia destroyed everything!" Then the specialist says it can't be stopped. Sorry but I have to stop for now. I'll put some mor tomorrow.

Wow, the people here are really losing it. Anyway, here the rest of the game. The scientist guy explains that the reason it is begining to look like the time period Squall and his companions crossed into to defeat Ultimacia is because this is that time. You see, time alway flow in a forward direction. It never goes in any other direction but forward. Even when time was compressed, it still flows normally. Squall's son get adgitated and say just get to the damn point so that's what I'm going to do. Even do time flows forward, it is also in a continueous loop. Which means, the past, present, and future will repeatedly repeat itself. Ultimacia was defeated by Squall and company. But it does not stop the fact she was born and her empire was created. Basically, he says that Ultimacia will destroy everything in their time and forge her empire on the ruins of their planet and there is nothing they can do about it. Squall's son says who ever she claim to be it's still his sister. The scientist then says even if they were to find a way to stop it, they will disrupt the normal flow of time thus creating a Time Colapse, which will throw the past, present, and future in limbo.......Basically, save or no save, their screwed. Squall's son then makes a point saying, " It does not matter what happens in any time period for any reason. What matters is saving the people that needs you. I would gladly give my life for my sister or anyone else because in the end, the only thing that matters is your own beliefs and decisions." The speech gets everyone fired up, and then it's off to the final battle. After solving puzzles and fighting through some tough bosses, you make it to Ultimacia's/Squall's daughters room in the castle where the final battle begins. Now comes the fork in the road. I have four different senerio's which differ depending on the actions takin' throughout the game. Actions like how many times you used Squall's sons GF Combination ability, Playing hidden side quest and the likes, And these are the senerio's I came up with. The first one, Ultimacia draws GF Gravier/Squall's son with in herself after the last battle and crushes the entire party thus continuing the correct flow of time, Bad ending. The second ending, after Ultimacia draws Gravier/Squall's son within herself and begin to use the power of the ultimate GF against the rest of the party, Squall's son uses the power to break free of Ultimacia and destroys Ultimacia's powers giving Squall's daughter her sanity back. But there action corrupted time and caused a time colapse destroying their time period and all the others, Very bad ending!!! Ending number three, Ultimacia draws Gravier and releases Squall's son keeping his hidden power and crushes the party using the GF Combination ablility. Crazy Ending because at the end of this ending, you see a trailer of the entire fight with Squall and company verses Ultimacia in the final battle of the original FF8 stating time is in fact, repeating itself. And last, but not least, ending number four. Ultimacia draws Gravier/Squall's son and attemps to release Squall's son without his powers. But, Squall son mannage to grab his sister and Ultimacia releases both leaving Squall's daugthers power/Ultimacia and Squall's sons' power/Gravier. Ultimacia quickly decides what the hell. Just kill them all. Squall's son and his party, with special help from Squall's daughter, vanquishes Ultimacia and Gravier for good. And the best part is time doesn't colapse! This would be the true ending. And that's that. Best Final Fantasy ever!!!:D

I think it's true that FF8 has a nice ending, but I mean im sure Square could think of SOMETHING...
Althought the chance of another game about ff8 is like 100000000000000 to one, it's an interesting thought
No need to get ur knickers in a twist about it, though.
But yah they ended it way too well to have any sequels at all... i think Square wanted it that way.

Alright, I guess I went too far. And besides, if Square were to make a sequal or prequal, they would have done it all ready. Oh well, who cares?! It's not the end of the world!

Prequel, staring Laguna is by far the best idea

well someboady would have to die for starters i would say either selphie or Riona one of the girls! i dont have anything against them but it allways gives a game meaning when a character u know dies u always want to beat it and get revenge like in FF7.

FF8 is one of my favorite games, and after I'm finished writing my novelization of the game, I've got ideas for two sequels, pretending that they are novelizations of the next two games. The first deals with Hyne returning to Adama (the name I've given to FF8's world), coming back to reclaim his own, i.e. humans. The second is a suprise.

If a sequel really were made the only practical thing I see is the whole "time loop" thing. Basically they looped, and Ulty will just get her powers again.

Ooor...Rinoa passes her powers on...to an evil person!

Do we not have enough sequels in the video game world?

You just don't get it do you? When poeple ask for a sequel, it always go way beyond a simple game or movie or whatever it is. It's about living a dream we have deep within ourselves. Don't think any less of this topic because in the world theres already a countless number of bad remakes, sequals, and prequals. The fact of the matter is, there are none for FF8 whether good or bad. And I bet everyone on this site would play it reguardless of ratings.

DO NOT QUESTION THE SEQUELS!

In reality, the only way we can have a good sequel is if events from the game influence the sequel, like what Skyblade said.

And I bet everyone on this site would play it reguardless of ratings

I'd play it because I am a little fangirl who will play any FF that comes out and then bitch about it later.

...NOOOO MORE SEQUELS!!!! *cries insanling* Well, maybe, Rinoa dies, or Laguna's part of the story or something interesting, but it was good the way it ended.

FF8 is the one game out of the entire series that I think has the most prequel/sequel/spinoff-potential and should be expanded upon. Square is milking the wrong game (FF7).

I’d play it, if they fixed the ‘bug’ that disabled player from looking up Selphie’s skirt.

A movie I’d leave alone, though. Already wasted my time with one of those.

Hmmm,....maybe the people replying to this topic have short attention spans or maybe I just trippin'. But we should be talking about ideas we have about the sequal or prequal instead of beckering about whether they should have a sequal are not. So, if you don't have an idea why are you here?

I'd rather have a thousand fanfics than a single official sequel to FFVIII. Sure, most of them will be atrocious, but there'll be just enough that are good to be alright--and without Square's habit of fiddling with the canon.

Personally, the two things I'd like most in an FF8 sequel is the whole R=U theory being settled (whether proved or disproved, I don't care, just resolve the damn thing!), and for Fujin to get more screentime. <3 Fujin.

You're right that FF8 does have the most potential, but FF7 is universally far more popular. Making a "Compilation of FF8" would be a tremendous financial risk, and S-E won't be making many of those after the clustersmurf that was FF:TSW.

You totally get to see up her skirt a whole ton of times in the victory animations. *cough* Not that I was looking.

I don't know, if it's bad it could destroy the game. I change my answer to no, because it's too much of a risk. To me, FF8 is the best game i played. A remake on the PS3 however, would be perfect!
Yeah I agree, a remake on ps3 woull be so awsome!!
