It's possible.

Have you ever been the victim of hackers? Has anyone ever hacked into your private email accounts? Has your computer ever been used to store pornography without you realising it? Have you ever been careless and given your MSN password out to people, only for them to 'hack' into your account and play havoc?

Please discuss.

Some of my friends know my msn password, they used it once to change my name into something offending, but that's about it.

I gave some mates my brother's password once. Hilarity ensued.

Someone broke into my account on another forum and changed my avatar to a big picture of a woman's naughty bits.

Luckily I just got notified by a mod, and I told them someone else changed it. There was this big investigation, but nobody ever found out who did it. :{

My ex-girlfriend did it once and told my girlfriend-at-the-time (and other people) that I was gay and told another friend of mine that I loved her. The highlight of the whole thing was when Nimmy (Nimrod/Raiden/Adam/whatever) had a conversation with 'me' after it had been revealed that it wasn't me already to him - he had a rather one-sided conversation with the hacker about how he saw a squirrel get run over. The hacker called him a sicko and left. I was amused.

If you give someone your password, it's not really hacking.

Someone hacked into my MSN and changed my name and sent nasty messages to people on my MSN. They even changed my name at one point saying I missed my ex! Which shocked me cause mye x would have seen it. Ive had to change my password, I suspect ny cousins or brother, but the same thing has happened to them.

I've only ever suffered from being hacked once and that was hacked in the true sense of someone stole the information and used it for no good. It was when I was just on the verge of becomming a member of staff on a beta test server for a game I used to play. Their database was hacked in to and files storing the log on details of accounts copied (this was done by a former member of staff, infact the one I was due to replace) he didn't have a server password anymore but we suspected he had inside help.

He then used the stolen information to log in to accounts and cause havoc. He chose accounts with only the most renown characters (those who had a lot of diplomacy with other characters, alliances, peace treaties or wars) including my account since both my drow and human were well known characters. He then basically using our characters that we had spent months/years training to create big diplomacy bug based fights where tons of players were going to die and lose equipment. Once done with our characters as a final insult he deleted those he had used which was an option when your character died. I suffered the loss of two of my characters from the database and caused the deaths of over 300 characters in total (about 40% of the servers total) in the end we had to prove I was not online at the point in time of the diplo fights (since a lot of players wanted me banned at that point in time) which was easily done they were done at about 3am and back then I hadn't got internet at home. It was also proved easily because of the fact that the IP was australian. In the end I got my characters restored to me and was gifted my skills back (though they were 2 months behind as I had not kept an up to date record). After that we waited another 6 months before announcing I was staff otherwise players would have accused us of cheating and being unfair.

I have not been hacked, but my grandmother's computer was vandilized. It currently holds lots of porn and so on which can not be taken out. She was so angry about it xD (Her computer was terrible to begin with)

I used to have an alternate MSN address that was almost identical to my current one, just with a “69” at the end. My uh... only excuse is that I was 14. Whatever. Anyway, a friend of mine guessed the password and hijacked the account. Then he harassed pretty much everyone on my list (who, at that time, were only people from my school). Man, that got some people mad at me! But he never got me into any major trouble, so I never had a problem with him having it. It was more of a joke/lesson, anyway (the important lesson of not using the name of your favorite band as a password).

I know that may not really be counted as hacking, but that's the closest story I got.

I hack my own shat all the time to make sure I covered up the obvious holes. Aside from that, only on my windows box - which I don't care about :eep:

My ex girlfriend changed the password on my old AIM name and somehow got my password at FFL and did quite a few malicious things there.

Once one of my friends broke into a forum account of mine and did something embarrassing, so I made a second account and nobody found out for a long time :jess:

Yes, that's why I put the word 'hack' in single inverted commas.

I learned internet paranoia on Neopets, where people hand over their passwords all the time (any site that has the word 'password' on their swear filter has problems). I have never had that happen to me anywhere.

I've never had any problems, though some of my passwords are laughably easy. Maybe I should change them.

you know so far strider and me are the only two to be victims of actual crimes of hacking, did they get the guy and return the cash strider or do you not know? The hacker who hacked me was arrested and banned from computers for 5 years plus made to pay a severe fine.

I don't think my e-mail has ever been hacked... and I'm not dumb enough to give out my password. :)

hm. I always thought that was because it had "ass" in it.

I don't think I have. Even if someone did they didn't do anything that bad or noticeable.

Nah, it blocks p@$$w0rd as well. People actually went round asking other people for passwords. Scams were the norm.

Aside from the one or two Trojan Horses, I've not had to deal with much hacking, which is good.
