calling girls, girls sometimes sounds sort of odd or disrespectful or something. im not sure what it is but it just doesn't sound right.

calling them young women is a completely outdated phrase.

there are a variety of sexist things like calling them chicks or babes or something.

o.k. so youd usually call them by their first name anyway but i cant seem to think of a right way to say girl/women/lady.

i find the word dude-ette amusing but id never really use it.

there just doesnt seem to be a right way.

All men, regardless of their age should be reffered to as "boys". All women, regardless of their age, should be reffered to as "girls".

Just call them by their first name. :) They don't mind. If you call them a chick and you like them, they might be flattered. You just have to use it in teh right way like:

"Hey, you're a cool chick!"

I call girls chicks a lot. I don't find it sexist. xD

I call both sexes guys.

To girls : "Hey guys what's up?"
To boys: "Hey guys what's up?"

It works for everything.

To dogs: "Hey guys what's up?"

See.

Call her a man.

In truth, just say 'chick' or her 'queen'. I call girls Queens.

good replies. i guess theres nothing wrong with them if you use them properly.

i just hate to sound wierd or stupid.

EDIT: oh yeah. i forgot about saying "guys" and "girls". if its a group of guys with at least one girl you can just say guys and if its a group of girls saying "girls" doesn't sound too bad.

Get the hell out of my way, you worthless piece of meat.

Don't get me wrong, that's how I address everyone.

I'd laugh at anyone who finds women being called chicks offensive, and tell them to get off their high horse. Chick/girl works for me.

I am a young lady and am called Miss Allison

[edit- I am totally serious. Although this is mostly limited to church]

I call everybody dude. Even girls. It's funny. It works.

I particuarly like the word dork though. I call some of my girl friends dorks, and then all of a sudden, they get defensive in a playful sense. It's a back and forth, give and take game. It's fun.

Yeah I dunno how chick or babe could be sexist or offensive in any sense. But uh, okay!

I like saying chick. Chick is good. But I'm pretty much with Shiny on this one. Come on guys let's go to a movie!

I don't think chick or babe is sexist, I just hate those words. One of my friends called me doll which was kinda nice. Actually most of my male friends start sentences with "hey sexy", which I won't complain about. xD Or I've been called missy before, which is kinda cute. As long as they don't call me babe, it's all good. :D

I prefer to not use deragotory terms when I adress women. I usually just use young ladies/young women. Im old fashioned, what can I say.

Chick I don't mind, but I hate babe myself.

The preferable term of address to a female of the species is "toots".

I call everybody both genders "you". Unless I know their name.

Honestly I don't much care what I'm called XD My boyfriend calls me geek/nerd/dork/chix0r which are all my personal favorites though :tonberry:

I call others of the female persuasion either girls or chicks. Or "lady" if they're considerably older than myself. xP

"You," as in "Hey, you make me a ham sandwich."

Either I'll call a girl by her first name or chick.

Calling girls "chicks" is whatever. Calling ME a chick is baaad and I will kick you in the nuts for it. Ugh. Chicks. I am not a damn bird. :mad2:

I prefer lady, babe, and girl.

Madame Adequate

Haha, here in England bird is itself another slang term for women :D

I like girl and boy though, to be honest. As long as someone's about the same age as me I'll call them that. Guys works as well, of course, having become gender neutral. Obviously, you can't use it to an individual female though xD

Toots is still the best though.

I don't see anything wrong with 'girl' and 'boy'.

However, ladies is by far the most appropriate term. ;)

Yeah, you seriously look really classy with the girls when you use
'ladies' at the end of your sentence.

Example; "you look fan-bloody-tastic....ladies"

It works well.

I call girls (or my friends who are girls) guys. I can't ever picture myself saying let's go girls or c'mon chicks because it just won't roll of my tongue properly. *shrug*

The only thing I wouldn't ever call girls is "hoes". It's the most retarded thing ever.

I call any girl my age or above a woman. And some younger friends.

In England, men like to address woman as their "Birds".
I would freak if I was called that.

Quindiana Jones
10-14-2006, 05:30 PM
Oh yeah. I forgot about that. A random hot girl to me (who I don't know, just like...seeing from across the street or summat), is a fit bird. Someone I'm getting to know and is hot is a hot lass. Then as I know you more, unless you're a bitch, you become gorgeous/beautiful. Dunno why that happens, it just does. Ha....

If you wanna flirt with them, don't call 'em anything that makes you seem inferior.
If you do, they'll feel "better than you" and ditch you, because they get the feeling you are not good enough for them.

I call everybody both genders "you". Unless I know their name.

Even if I know their name, I still call people "you". I only use names or "those girls" or "that girl" in reference. Everyone is you.
