i'm no longer a child so i have no business watching children's tv...just look at the adverts during commercials....toys and diapers. the two main demographics they're going for are the kids who watch and their parents, who are forced to watch sometimes.

What's wrong with kids' shows? I watch 'em all the time: Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, Danny Phantom,(yeah, mostly Nickelodeon shows; they've got the best kids shows), and a few others. I find them quite funny. Now, I don't watch shows targeted at preschoolers, mind you (I'm at least elementary school level by now) but some of those shows are funny. If you've all lost touch with your inner child, I pity you.

When I was a kid cartoons were truly amazing. I mean He-Man, Teenage Mutant Turtkes, Ghostbusters, Care Bears! We rocked childrens TV. Nowadays its a load of crap that doesnt even start to make sesne, eg, Spongebob Gaypants.

Yeah kids shows these days SUCK. I pine for the days of my youth, being enthralled by Thomas the Tank Engine and crying when Henry got blocked away because I thought he was going to die.

Yeah, the first one never has new episodes and the other two have been canceled. But Dexter's Lab and Courage the Cowardly Dog were great.

I refuse to refer to them as "children's" shows as anyone can watch them if they want to.

Basically there are only to types of shows around: Ones I like and ones I don't.

Age doesn't matter.

Well, they're aimed at kids because kids are more probably to appreciate them. And children's television is just low quality nonsense. I don't know if they still air real shows like Alfons Åberg, Mumin and Bamse here, but it's not what the TV watching children I occasionally encounter prefer to view, sadly.

Not really. saying it is "low quallty nonsense" is just the POV of people who don't like the show.

Most shows arn't "aimed" at kids (Although atmididly some are) they are amied at who wants to watch them.

And even if they are adults can still watch AND they can still like them.

The only thing is people are scared to admit it.

I watch what I like. And If people mention it I say "I like that show" and I don't care what happens next. Saddly I can't flat out admit I like certain "Kids" shows because I am so distanced with labling I wouldn't know if it was one or not.

And also: Some shows that SOME people have listed as "kids shows" have very deap plots involved so they are hardly "Low" on anything.

Basically watch what you want to watch and stop labling it as beeing a certain age - leave that to the ageist cretins in shops and at "Rotten Tomatoes .com"

I think The Simpsons is the worst show that children seem to watch these days. I cannot believe how early it's on at night.

Other than that, most childrens TV is fine.

whatever happened to the teletubbies?
"Tinky-Winky must be gay,"
I heard Jerry Falwell say.
"He is purple, and -- what's worse --
Tinky-Winky has a purse.
That triangle on his head,
Is a symbol," Jerry said.
But, for me, it's just a sign
That Jerry has too much free time.

The fact that children watch The Simpsons just shows that children don't care about content. As long as it's cartoons that do things, it doesn't matter what. Very few children have the brains to appreciate the sophisticated humour of The Simpsons.

That's because (Steriotypicaly) Kids get more of the jokes than adults do.

The only children's programme I watch with any degree of regularity is Chucklevision. There's something about two aging, moustachioed idiots from Rotherham doing "comedy" (and I use that term in its loosest possible sense), that really brings out the kid in me. I find it hilarious, which is very worrying.

Otherwise, I'll only watch programmes from when I was a kid (Thundercats, Knightmare etc.).

The Doodlebops is a really horrible kid show. I miss Carmen Sandiego. That show was fantastic. I'm not sure what it was about, but the theme song alone owns.
