Just some things about the Wii I wanted to share for the people who don't know



The Virtual Console Download Service

-30 Virtual Console downloads on day one
-Will increase 10 games each month after
-Nes Titles will be available for 500 Wii Points
-Snes 800 points
-N64 1000 points
-*Each point costs a penny*
-Nes games can be played with the Wii controller
-The Snes, and N64 games can be played using this (http://www.joystiq.com/media/2006/05/wii_shell.jpg) controller, not sure if you could use a GC controller.

The back of the Wii box (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/18/back-of-the-wii-box-sparks-speculation/) says what comes with the system, including a 'Wii Startup Disc'.

It's interesting that "Nunchuk" went from being a tenative nickname for the controller attachment to its actual official denomination. On the other hand, I can't say how grateful I am that Nintendo hasn't bought into the disturbing trend of referring to the Wii Remote as the "Wiimote."

Wii Jokes seem to have calmed down as of late. In fact, I only remember seeing them for about 2 weeks. I can agree that perhaps they should have found some OTHER one syllable word that any country can say, considering I already use the word "Wee" to state when I'm going to take a pee, but the ridiculing (which was the main problem of the name) has stopped. For the most part, anyway. Of course, since this is the only forum I go to besides Gamefaqs and Gamer's Cut, perhaps I don't see any Wii jokes because the communities I go to are completely biased towards it positively. >.>

Are you kidding? Wiimote is great. It's like the only reason they changed the name of the console was to give the controller a more bitchin' name. Revmote just doesn't have the same ring to it.

The Famicom Mini series (or whatever they called it in America--I didn't pay too much attention) was for the GBA, although the GBC did suffer a few stripped-down NES ports.

I wonder if they'd let you buy a full pack for all NES games, another for SNES, and another for N64. Even if you could buy packs in genre's, and I'd wonder how much they were.

It seems a bit pricey to pay $5USD for games I can download for free though, unless they clean them up a bit? It'd be very cool if you could get Wiipoints for certain online competitions though (say, for games like Smash Bro.'s).

I also agree that "Wiimote" is a great name for a controller.
