*calms down* No, it is not the best. IMO I think this is a very good game. It is my favorite. But it is not the best. Why? Because nothing can ever be the 'best'. There is no such thing as being the 'best'. Opinon varies from person to person. Some may think it's the best and others may think it's the worst. Unless everyone can agree that something is their favorite, in every way, shape, and form, nothing will ever be the 'best'. That includes this game. And such a thing is impossible, since one thing cannot possibly appeal equally to everyone. It may be one of the better game in the series; but it's not the best.

IMO its not the best RPG. There are a few RPGs out there that rank number one for me, this isnt one of them. I prefer FF8, but if its your fav, fair enough.

Meh, FF7 is an ok RPG IMO. Most of the characters were very boring.

FFVII is my favorite of the FF series, though it's not my favorite game or my favorite RPG.

In my opinion, it is one of the best RPGs I have played.

What alot of the "ITS OVERRATED!!!" crowd forget is that it not only changed Final Fantasy, and RPGs as we knew it, but it changed the way videogames as a whole were made and presented.

Another factor why I like it so much is that it's the perfect mix of the old and new final fantasies. yes, it has those horrid FMVs that the VI fanboys terribly dread so much, and 3d graphics, but the sounds are very much still the traditional FF MIDI compositions... the battle screen has a blue window along the bottom displaying name/hp/mp/etc. It's a great game, and one of a kind if you ask me.

It's true, you can't really have a best game cuz there are many different styles of games and such that fit to people's likings. but i do think it's a wonderful game and by far my favorite game ever.

Most people who say it's overrated are those who played I-VI first, and were expecting the game to stay the same forever. It was going to have to become less 'fantasical' to sell outside Japan. Also, the graphics, considering it was on the Playstation, were just plain horrible.

Ok, I've been playing computer games since the 70's and have played tons of RPGs before FF was even around. And I'll say that even though you really can't say which RPG is the best of all time I still consider FF7 my favorite out of all the console and PC RPGs I have ever played. It was like being in a movie for crying out loud. And remember how Rufus died? That was just plain cool! A bad guy with a personality! Ok, FF7 is 9 years old so I don't think Rufus dying is a spoiler! :p

ff7 is my favirote but no final fantasy is the best because they are all different in their own way

I like Final Fantasy 7 the most out of all the FF's I've played so far. It really irritates me when people say, "Omg FF *insert number* is the best RPG ever!" Most of the them are very ignorant and have played very few RPG's to even be making that statement.

In terms of pure Nostalgia I do love FF VII (yes, it was my very first one) but at the same time, I can't claim this is the best FF. Each one offers something new and unique to the series and every FF has a great and interesting story. There's a reason why I love the FF series and to claim that one bests all the others, would just be foolish in my part.

It's a good RPG, no doubt, but I wouldn't say it's the best, and I think there are definitely better ones out there.
