Are there any music artists that you used to like but now dislike? - If so, what went wrong in your opinion?

For me its Greenday. I was such a massive fan of their old albums, but American Idiot just let me down so much. I barely listen to GreenDay now. Smae with The Offspring.

Jay Z. His work nowadays is boring but back in 1995 he was the king of freestyling ( with Big L, of course )

Green Day and Blink 182, they rocked hardcore back in the mid 90's and lte 90's but just kinda fell off and got too serious after that. it ruined their music :(

I agree that blink and green day went a bit too mature and boring, but I still liked their new stuff, though preferred old, and it was no reason to put me off the bands, since you can still listen to the old music They had to try new stuff sometime.

Anyway, I can't think of any it's happened with over a long period of time in terms of their music, but The Kooks and Razorlight in a short space of time. I thought the kooks were pretty cool at first, but I saw them live (well on tv anyway) and they just bug me with their curly hair and tight trousers.

And then most of the other songs on their album annoyed me. Razorlight I liked, and still the music is okay, but the guy thinks he is some God in his tight white body outfit thing and >> It put me off. I know its not all about image but uhh, eww. I can't stand trendy indie bands with massive egos.

He Is Legend's new album was a disappointment. Musically, it was more of the same they did on "I Am Hollywood", but the vocal style changed for the worse. Not happy with it.

Also, Saves The Day got worse from "Stay What You Are" onwards. They totally killed it on that and "Through Being Cool", and then they go and listen to a Weezer album and put out the travesty called "In Reverie".

Bands such a Linkin Park I listened to when I was about 12.

I grew up though, so it's not their fault that they suck.

I kinda got into GreenDay with the release of American Idiot but when I watched the live DVD it completley put me off them 'cos Billy Joe is such a twat.

Any band that was popular in the 70's and then went into rehab in the eighties, they get out release one good album and then never return to their original glory. I'm looking at you Aerosmith...

Less Than Jake. Honestly, their actual songwriting has improved, I give them full credit for that, but with the disappearance of the horns and trumpets from their stuff, their poor guitar playing is really shown up. Their songs tend to sound much the same now, which is really unfortunate, since during their ska punk era, they were utterly awesome.

The Offspring are another band I have issues with their later albums, but I can kinda understand where they're going. I mean, when they started, they were still bitter and angry, whilst now they're living the good life and everything's sweet for them. It's hard to stay pissed off at the world when everything goes your way. But then, look at NOFX. 23 years, and they get better every album, still making great music and sticking to their punk roots. Having said that, Splinter did have some damn good songs on it. It's far from impossible for them to keep up the quality and shift into a different genre somewhat.

Okay ... has bugger all to do with the subject at hand ...

But I too would like to add Blink to the list. They did go so mature and its like where has the funny slapstick, eg, "All the Small Things" gone?! I barely listen to them now.

The Spice Girls

Devil Man was a huuuuuge Spice Girls fan for a couple of weeks and then they went downhill. :(

Also...

Britney Spears

She was also mega-talented but, uhh, has gone a bit wobbly since then

Flogging Molly:
There first two albums were amazing. They perfected the notion of joining the rebelious and raucous nature of punk with Irish and Celtic songs and jogs. Spoons and guitars, whiskey and flutes, all with a voice that only a mother could love. It makes you think of seas and pirates, jigs and pubs, rebels and chaos...

But then their newest album came - Within a Mile of Home. What happened to the greatness I just spoke of you might ask? It was lost with guest singers and musicians accompanying a boring album. The songs were mediocre at best save for one (seven Deadly Sins), and all the rest were far too light, repititive, outright boring, and/or lacking of any means of punk, raucous antics, etc... I wish to have bands evolve and grow, but nor do I wish to have them neglect their greatness for .

Metallica pisses me off now.

And ever since his album Fragile, Trent Reznor (NIN for those who are uninformed/uneducated) has become a sad, pathetic, lesser version of what he once was. He was Industrial. He was fucking awesome. But ever since Fragile, he's sucked more and more, and With Teeth was the worst thing that ever fucking happened, I swear. The raw, pure nature of his songs are now mediocre pop-esque crap.

Marilyn Manson is bothering me also. I want more Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, not him lying around pretending to philosiphize about Celebretanism and metaphysics.

Greenday is, simply and nicely put, ridiculously stupid now.

My Chemical Romance has become . The Black Parade is a complete and utter letdown. It's filled with happy, new Greenday sound, Falloutboy and Angels and Airwaves influences. That right there explains what has happened to MCR.

What happened to their ability to bridge the gap between rock, punk, and emotive music and mesh them together to create something that wasn't power-pop? What they are now is sad and pathetic. One listen to Dead! after you listen to You Know What They do to Guys Like us in Prison or Demolition Lovers and you will know the horrors of that which I speak.

I hate them now and wish to burn my shirt that bears their name lest I be shamed.

Eminem.

Don't get me wrong, i think he's a genius and his freestyles are the best but after "The Marshall Mathers" his stuff has gone down hill. Ok, "The Eminem Show" was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as his previous two albums and Encore, pretty much sucked.

He should go back to pissing people off.

I agree, he was AWSOME back with the slim shady LP and Marshal mathers, after that I lost all intrest.

I need to add U2 to this list, they were really good in the beginning and the Joshua Tree was a good album, but they never really got back their youthful flair. Throw in the fact that they got even more preachy about their beliefs and I quickly lost interest. I still will listen to their new stuff once in a while but it's definetly not as good as before.

What you hate Eminem because you changed your fashion sense? I liked Eminem once, but I dislike him now cause he's gone boring ...

Probably Korn I'd say. Last time I checked they'd lost a guitarist and made a post-industrial trash album a la HIM. Not good.

Nickleback. I love their first 2 CDs but everyone after that just kind of sucked. The first 2 CDs had creative songs but after that all their songs just sort of became the same and were also overplayed on the radio stations.

Metallica
Children of Bodom
Avenged Sevenfold

I don't dislike them, just their new material.

For all three bands, I think they're new music is just flat out bad.

Metallica let the stupid shrink mess with them and turn them into pansies.

Children of Bodom went all industrial sounding and lost a lot of the insane riffs and energy.

Avenged Sevenfold just kind of lost it.

He's really rested on his laurels. "Oh, people used to like me whining about my crackwhore wife and bad mom and how much I love my daughter (and rap about subjecting her to horribly violent situations)? Okay I'll keep writing all of my songs about them. Over. And over. And over. And over."

Marilyn Manson; after Holywood and the removal of Twiggy his style changed so much. I still like him alot, but it's just not the same :(

Mindless Self Indulgence: Their new album is good, it's just not Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy good.
