None of the other pink tail/flan princess/pink puff topics seemed to have an answer, and I didn't want to piggy back on another person's topic so... here goes.

Played FFIV for PS1 short while ago and beat it... 57-60... only had one alarm at end of game so wasn't much for fighting there.

Now playing FFIV advance on a friend's system(mine coming soon). My game though.

I stole 57 sirens while in the giant... and figured that would be enough.
I use about 5-7 of these, then reset and run back to the room.
Currently I am using Rydia, Cecil, Palom, Yang, Rosa.... and wondered if there is a better party.
I've went through the cave of trials and got palom and yang's weapon, but not the other three weapons.
I've got all the equip on the moon and bahamut, just haven't beaten Zeromus on this version.

Levels are in the 51-55 range, and while the battles aren't all that hard(primarily using Palom's quake and Rydia Bahamut/Quake while Yang and Cecil attack), my characters do still get hurt a bit requiring healing, and it does take a decent amount of time as Palom gets berserkerd often before he gets that second quake off.

Keep spending 5-7 sirens and reseting til I get a pink tail, or level up a bit, or go beat Zeromus and I think there is an additional dungeon with more armor/weapons after him?

ie will gaining 10 levels/getting access to the bonus dungeon weapons/switching to a diff party make this any faster :)

Cecil does around 4000 to a single flan, Yang around 2500-3500, Palom 4000-5000 to all, Rydia Bahamut 8500-9999, and Rosa heals.

Once your berserked, you have no strategy but survival.

Go with all manpower and just keep your HP high. Cid, Yang, Edge, Cecil, and Kain should suffice.

Or you could equip the two Ribbons on your spellcasters. But once you go through the bonus dungeons, everyone in your party should be equipped with Ribbons.

Also, 152 sirens and entire day of doing absolutely nothing didn't get me one Pink Tail, so good luck. ;)

I've only got 4 even after doing everyone's trial once.

Theres a room about halfway down inside the Lunar Ruins I found out that has an encounter with 8 Flan Princesses... I was kinda shocked to see this, even though the area is only Flans...

Unfortunately its very deep inside the ruins, and the FPs aren't the rarest encounter here.

Hmm seems I'll need the armor after all.. theres a dragon down here in the very bottom of the ruins whos pretty much using my party as toothpicks at lvl 60.

That would be Brachioraidos, another superboss for FFIVA. At least I think. Just don't attack him while he charges up Mega Flare, and use Reflect on everyone to reflect it back at him. Cain's Abel Lance has a chance of killing him instantly.

Yeah, I looted 300 Sirens and only got one Pink Tail, so...good luck with all that there.

Evastio, I have five Ribbons, but I don't know if I got one as a drop or what. Of course, as long as your spellcasters aren't berserked, they're easy to kill.

ValiantKnight, the floors for the Lunar Ruins are random, so 'eight floors down' isn't specific. Can you describe what the room looked like that hosted the eight Flan Princess encounter?

Large Spiral Shaped room with bridges, where at first there were two soldiers commenting on how their weapons were ineffective and they should have brought a mage along.

All the enemies in the room were Puddings/Flans... every last one.

When I finished the floor, the trial that was next was Kain's trial(picture of a Dragoon)

if that helps any :)

I think I will just go level grind a bit more in the ruins, subterraine or bahamut's place........
Perhaps I'll switch in Kain and Porom and maybe someone else and go beat Zeromus again so I can open their trials.... Palom kinda died during the fight and didn't get credit.

Ah! The Flan room. Okay, that makes perfect sense. Thanks! :cat: :)

Hmm perhaps Kain and Cid's weapons from the Ruins will help more...
Just need to go find a hundred or so Lunar Curtains for Kain's trial first I heard.

You only need like a seven or so. Or you can use the 'timed jump' strategy (input the Jump command when Mega Flare hits 2).

Kain was a little slow(his agi wasn't quite fast enough to match the countdown, so I knew from the start, it might be over...

One lunar curtain, two reflected mega flares, and about 9 jumps later though....

Did about 4 jumps, then used the curtain to sorta reset the timer and let myself heal for a round... then 4 more jumps.. or 5.

Cid has Thor's hammer, Edward has both his harps...(no requiem yet)
Kain has Abel and Piggy, Edge has masamune and Sasuke, Cecil has Lightbringer.

Yang doesn't seem to outdamage any of them except when using Deadly... and takes sick amounts of damage from elemental spells...(3000s when others are taking 800-1500).
Cid has a similar problem to Yang, and his hammer seems to be kinda random on the damage.

Atm i'm leaning towards Kain and Edge still, Edge is a little weak, but he is more solid in HP than edward, and more useful than Cid.
Kain.... rivals Cid in damage, almost in HP, and has the tornado(albeit rare) effect.

So I guess I'll go with Kain, Edge, Cecil, Rosa, Rydia? hmmm... seems familiar.
Rydia will throw quake out there to conserve MP while the others attack.

On a note... Edward can string together some 9999s on certain targets with the Lokia Lute(sp?). it was suprising to see his damage output, too bad it doesn't keep going on some of the other monsters i face.

Now I'm wondering whether to take my lvl 62~ party to get more people unsealed for Lunar Ruins(Palom/Porom, Edward, Edge), keep going thru the ruins to pick off a few more pieces of armor.... level up to 70 or so.... or keep trying Flan Princesses... I'm pretty sure Zero EG would still kill me atm, so there isn't much point fighitng the Dragon.

I beat him in the 70s, he isn't too tough as long as you have constant healing (why I used both Rosa and Porom), and know his attack pattern to act ahead of time. Just go ahead and try a few times, and see how far you can get. :) :cat:

Did about 60,000 damage to our dragon friend before Abel Lance finally went off... Not a great way to win, but still a win.

Zeromus EG actually wasn't that much harder than Zeromus with 3 ribbons.
Still in the low 60s, with a Hero shield now.

Going through the Lunar Ruins and Cave of Trials provides a massive boost in melee attack power, and was the right choice versus leveling up to make fighting the Flans easier.

Debating on heading down for more shields or trying for armor. Also need to try Rydia, Twins, Cid, Edward, and Edge's trial in the Ruins though.

*edit*
62 sirens used in one sitting... 9 dry ethers, 4 elixirs, 3 fumas, 0 pink tails.... /reset /sigh
Yang, Cecil, Rydia, Rosa, and Kain.
Kain attacks whatever has most HP, because of abel's.
Cecil attacks whatever has next most hp because of lightbringer
Rydia casts one quake, then attacks
Yang and Rosa just attack... I'm comtemplating switching Rosa for Cid, as she never really needs to heal here...
