Me and a freind were talking, and we came up with an interesting situation. Lets say they develope technolodgy so that when you get a sex change from male to female you can have kids. If you donate your seamon before the sexchange, could you inseminate yoruself and have a kid? What do you think of the Idea? Would this be considered reproducing Asexually?

Biology 101

The kid would not be a clone because it is still sexual reproduction since it is using an egg and sperm to reproduce. So there is a good chance that you could have a lot of differences with the child. It would depend on your genes, if you had like the dominant allele for a trait (X) along with the recessive one (x) then it would be Xx so if you cross and Xx the possible outcomes are XX, Xx, Xx, and xx. XX and Xx are genetically different but physically the same so only 2 phenotypes (physical appearance) are possible, the recessive of xx and the dominant of Xx, Xx, and XX. If however your genotype was XX or xx then the only outcomes would be XX and xx respectively in that case the child would be just like you in that specific trait. So like I said it all depends on each specific genotype for each trait and that makes the chances of the child being just like you extremely rare.

I think if you did that then there would actual be a VERY slim chance of the genetics working out that a viable foetus could be concieved and carried to full term, however it is far more likely that the foetus would self terminate.
