Am I just very unusual or does the "Post edited at ____" bar that appears after you edit your post after a certain time REALLY bother you too? I don't even like to look at my post after that if that bar appears.

At least it's small and kind of hard to see.

I used to be really anal retentive and leave open font color tags matching the board layout to hide that I had to edit a post. ;D

The world can never know my secret shame. Although since I became a CK, the little edited by bar never appears anymore.

It annoys me too. It's like when you write something an there is a smudge on the page, it just upsets the whole thing.

Yes, seeing that little bar at the bottom of my posts makes me want to punch myself in the kidneys so badly. :p

Yeah that always really bothered me. It still does, when I see it on someone else's post. It's just so...ick. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with them anymore. :D Oh the joys of being a CK.

I didn't know what to pick, so I picked all three.

It doesn't always appear, but I do feel embarrased when it does sometimes :spin:

Not having to deal with that thing is the best part of being on staff by far.

Isn't there like some kind of buffer period where you don't get that?

I hate it when it happens to me, but I enjoy it when other people get it. Especially the type that prides itself on never making mistakes. Okay. I know that makes me a horrible person, but I can’t help it.

I don't really care so much. maybe if I read the forums more.

EDIT: ps editing is spelled, well, 'editing'

and that was edited and there's no line at the bottom. maybe because i hit "go advanced" while editing from quick reply?

EDIT THREEEE: nope.

EDIT4: now it's there. :(

You mean...it goes away?

:cat:?

Edit: OMG! I had no clue it goes away if you're on staff! That's awesome! ;_;

Edit2: But it shows up if someone else edits it! :evilking:

I never have to edit my posts, cause I get them right the first time. Although if I see a typo when I read it just after I've posted it, I will edit it, but as Yams said, it doesn't come up before five minutes.

Yeah, that goes for the glorious Devil Man too.

Devil Man couldn't give a damn.

We are all human, after all, and 'tis human to err!

So don't worry 'bout it :)

If anything, it shows how much you pride yourself in making good Posts. Like, say, you make a mistake first time around, then you correct it and that bar appears at the bottom. It shows you take effort in your Posts to re-read them and correct the mistakes for the benefit of mankind

Ergo, you are proud of your posts!

I still don't get why it appears sometimes and not others though..I think the "Reason" only appears if you edit it after someone's read your post.

Also why do you have to give a reason when deleating a post. Whos going to read it, as the post is being deleated.

Xander

It appears that you don't have to give a reason to delete it, but I think staffeners can see deleted posts or see why people have deleted them...or something.

It was put in by Kishi to make sure that when people backtracked their falsified posts and he berated/corrected them that they can't cover their stupidity up for the world to not point and laugh at.

So that we who see deleted posts know why.

I have never got that before. And I edit a number of my posts. So, being as I never get one, it can't bother me. :p

Most of the time I'm editing my posts because there's something that I forgot to say. (I'll rarely edit for a typo or something like that.)

And so I like the little line because it allows other posters to know that there's new information on the table that they may need to know about before trying to respond to my killer wit.

EDIT: I am reknowned for not having killer wit. Except for the kind that's so bad it gives aneurisms.

EDIT 2: See, I go out of my way to mark my edits. Other people probably won't do this though, because nobody thinks. Ever. So the little stain at the bottom of the post becomes necessary.

My posts are like... remember in the early days of t'internet when we were using IE2/3 and modems? There was a type of image (jpeg2000 I think) where it'd start off fully drawn but really blocky and pixellated, and then as the image file loaded it'd get more and more detailed.

(Nowadays they just load top-to-bottom, as most people have broadband anyway)

So yeah, I'll usually start out a reply with 2 lines and think I'm done, then find myself going back and adding more detail over and over.

So I'm quite used to 'Edited' messages - in fact I'd probably rather people knew.

'Preview' is no good for me for some reason. You'd think it should be, logically, but it's not - I can't psychologically check a post properly until it's actually posted.

The text annoys me a bit sometimes, but it's not really anything too bad. Besides, usually I edit my typos out just after submitting a post, so that doesn't seem to cause the edited message to appear.

Isn't there like some kind of buffer period where you don't get that?

Five minutes.

Is it really so? Sometimes when I've been editing my post after posting, the editing has taken me a while, and I still didn't see that "edited" text after editing.

EDIT: I edited this.
