I have only played a little bit of it but so far it seems to be good. Way better than Final Fantasy IV Advanced. Not as buggy.

Read my reviews of FF V Advance in the topics below. The game's great and I wouldn't allow XII or III DS to take away time to play this game.
i am waiting for this game even more than FFXII but square are anti-european twats and haven't even announced a release date yet.

I want to purchase FF V Advance, but I'm too busy with FF XI, XII, and Tales of the Abyss. I will buy it eventually though:)
I have played(and beaten)the Playstation version and it is a very fun game to play. The job system will get you hooked

God I hate the character Portraits. Faris should have purple hair in the portrait.

Wrong, Faris' sprite should have had blonde hair. Amano's artwork came before the sprites were made. So there. Now that I'm playing this english ROM, I find the character portraits really great and welcome. But oh, let's all whine while we know that won't change anything and certainly not because the game's already out! *Sigh* It's always something. What are we all gonna complain about when FF VI Advance arrives? Guess we have to wait and see. i'm sure we'll find something.

Well if Amano had drawn his character right there wouldn't be a problem.

Even if she looked that way in the original art, putting character portraits into the game that look almost nothing like the sprites they are associated with is an incredibly stupid move.

I can't say anything about FFVA yet, but FFV was a good game with a really enjoyable battle system, and a pretty good story and characters. The job/ability system is the highlight of the game, really. I probably won't be playing the game for a while, though, as I have other things to do.

I got the game. It's damn good, and well translated from the original Japanese game.
It has more of the Playstation version's translation, but the battle quotes and Faris's dialogue aren't ad-libbed or improvised like in that version. Faris no longer talks like a pirate, but seems to talk with sort of a Scottish dialect now. O.o;;
Some of the spell names are translated differently than the PS version too, like Scan being called Libra (it was called Libra in the Japanese game), and the elemental spell names are no longer Fire, Fire 2, Fire 3, etc.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten as far into the English version of Advance yet as I have in the Japanese version, so I'm working on that now.

Astronite, does that mean the English version of FFVA has already been released?

I want it, I played FFV and it was great. Like the rest, I love the job system, I do find some abilities were adopted by FFTA

No one's put up the ROM yet, and I already have it for PSX, so I see no reason to get it.

What.
Does "YESSSSSS!" after winning a battle and all of Faris' dialogue in the PSX version ring a bell? :p

Bad writing does not equal ad-libbing or improvisation.

I wasn't that annoyed about Faris' pirate accent, at least when compared to the "YESSSSSS!" message after winning a battle. Fortunately, the GBA version doesn't have that, and it has also got rid of several other annoying things, such as the PSX loading times.
"Let her go, you addle-pated foul-complexioned scofflaw!" is the best line EVER.

I LOVE the new translation. Some of the lines literally make me laugh out loud. All the characters are more awesome, especially Galuf. He just rocks.

Err... no? I don't see anything stupid with it, having run through the entire game in english again and never bothered with the character portraits. You guys take away the enjoyment of the game yourself by always thinking the character portraits are horrible and bad. Get over it, enjoy them and have fun with the game I would say.
I love this new translation, Galuf's line during a certain scene especially struck me. I don't know if they were what he said in the PSX version, but they were still great. Oh yes, the Bonus dungeon is hard, I've heard and noticed. The optional boss can hit with Almagest for -5000 I've read. And with even stronger versions of Shinryuu and Omega?
And also, when you've beaten the Optional Boss and bonus dungeon, you can do boss-rush mode! I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it ahs something to do with fighting all bosses up until the rift bosses after each other, or something liek that. I'll tell if I ever get there, but for now, I'm going to retreat out of the bonus dungeon to spend some time leveling up.
With all this new stuff, you'll never regret buying it, at least, in my humble opinion.

They either should have drawn the portraits to match the sprites or redrawn the sprites to match Amano's character designs.

It's because it's human nature to complain that everybody detests the character portraits. So what if they don't match the sprites? Sometimes I feel like the only person on the planet who can always accept things without needing to complain about it. Here everybody screams about the character portraits, on other fora they are complaining that they wanted Exodus instead of Exdeath, and actually, for what? The game's out, Square Enix isn't going to change it anymore. I just would take the good and the bads (like there are in this game), and like the game. And it's not that Square was stupid by adding these thing cause there are people who like em. And besides, I can't imagine a Lenna portrait with Pink hair or a Lenna sprite with blond hair. But oh well, who am I to defend the portraits, anyway?
Question, cause you seem to know quite much, if not everything about the new dungeon, do you have to beat the Omega wathever-it-is2 and Neo Shinryuu to go to the optional boss? Or are they optional like Omega and Shinryuu?

Ehrm not sure if you mean the portraits with this one... The portraits aren't optional, they're there and you can't change it.
Neo Shinryu and Omega Mk.II are optional.
