So, we're currently housing an exchange student from Texas, U.S.A, and he's very funny at times. Particularly when it comes to sharing my computer, which he does when his is dead (he uses a laptop). So anyway he keeps complaining about my screen resolution! He keeps saying that it's too big and it makes his eyes bleed (I use 1280x960). I thought this was standard, but he likes to keep switching it to 1024x768! Too small! He's doing it again right now. :p

So I guess the topic is...do you ever have quarrles over the home computer? And what resolution do YOU use? :)

The screen resolution I use is 1280x1024. The only problems I ever had with my home computer was the fact that my brother kept going on naughty sites and it put viruses on the computer. I put an end to that though.

I tell you it can really piss someone off!

1280x1024x32 is standard on my monitor. No one messes with it.

I have my own computer. My husband has his own four computers, so he never touches mine.

And my resolution is 1280x1024.

I use 1100somethingx800something. It's a 3:4 resolution though whatever it is xD 1156x867 I think?

I can barely see this one the way it is a lot of the time, especially the way I sit in my chair, so I'm not about to go higher xD

1600 x 1200 for me.

No one dares change it or lose their computer priveledges.

I use 1024x768. This is my laptop, I got it for my birthday and I am forced to share it with my older brother. He's an ass. He always uses it longer than me and bugs me about how im always at EoFF. I wanna shove it in his face that it's mine, but I'm not like him. But whatever. I always thought he'd have to buy one when he goes to college. Apparently, he's not moving out. .__.

I used to use 800x600. Cause I love it. But then I realized it was fucking up yahoo games and stuff so I just decided to switch to 1024x768, and now it's been like that for a few months. The first couple days were horrible! :whimper: But it's okay now.

My resolution is 1024x768.

Also, I've been quarreling with my mother (who owns the computer) about using Mozilla/Firefox instead of the Rogers Yahoo browser and about using Limewire (which is now legal in Canada.) She wants to keep the crappy Rogers browser with it's IE 6 engine, and doesn't want me to use Limewire.

1024 * 768. Seriously, I can't think of a reason to have it any larger than that unless your a graphics designer or something.

1280x1024@32 for me. X doesn't want to go any higher for me, but that's ok, I like this resolution.

I don't know what I set my resolution for but the only arguments we have are when my little brother should get on during the day and when he shouldn't, mainly because he likes to get on during weekends/days off of school when I'm trying to sleep still.

Yes. And I have my own laptop that I use.

1200x854, because my LCD monitor has a weird native resolution.

But widescreen is soo nice.

1024x768 here. Sometimes I go larger, depending on what games I'm playing, etc. I used to have HUGE rows with my dad about resolution though. He's farsighted (can't see things very well up close) and likes to set resolution to 800x600 or larger...which I don't have a problem with, except he never changes it back! >.<

I took my computer and moved clear across the country though, so now I'm the only person that uses this rig!

I got a question. Since the highest my resolution will go is 1280 x 800, is there a program or something that could make it higher?

I use 1280x800, which was the default resolution with my laptop and I haven't had any reason to change it. Before I got a laptop I always used 1024x768; anything below that was horrible. :p

It's all based on your video card drivers and monitor. If neither of them support higher resolutions than that, then you're stuck.

I've had mine set at 1152 x 864 since I got it, and I'm used to it too much to change it.

Also, I have my own computer, and therefore don't have to worry about getting in arguments over it.

I use the highest resolution available. If possible, I like to use 1600x1200, but even higher is also fine, as long as I get at least 85 Hz (unless it's an LCD screen, but LCDs that do 1600x1200 or more cost a ton :().
Just be sure to use a 4:3 resolution on a 4:3 monitor, not a 5:4 resolution, like 1280x1024 is. 1280x960 is 4:3.

I just checked, mine's 1280x768. at home, we use the default of 1024x768. so this looks the same to me, just the screen is wider.

That's a widescreen resolution (15:9, or 5:3 if you want), so if your monitor is widescreen, all is well

1280x800. Mine's a widescreen laptop.

My parents still use 800x600 and get a little miffed when I switch it up. Largely because they don't have a clue how to turn it back. Endless fun? (Er, no.)

In fact, no one can look at it, or touch it, or...

IT'S MY PRECIOUS....

I'm on my own personal laptop, and the only other people that touch it are my two roomates. When their Apple Laptops are screwing up. But I keep my resolution at 1280x800. Yay widescreen!

The 1024 resolution is my prefered one. 800 is often too big, and resolutions higher than 1024 tend to be too small for me.
