View Full Version : Well, I'm attempting the CES Challenge.

I started a new game today, and I'm going for a basic CES challenge. NOt low-level, not natural magic, just a plain CES challenge. It should be enough for me considering that every other playthrough on this game I usually try to get everything before going after Kefka.

So does anyone have any tips or reminders? FF6 is a game of many points of no return. There are many things in FF6 that if you goof them up, they're gone until you start a new game and try again. I'm planning on using my autofire controller and spending a good long while on the Lete river so that when I do get into WoR, I'll already be pretty buff, making it easier to get more buff.

And I wanted to ask, does the "Merit Award" enable you to wear any relic, too? Like, could someone wear a Moogle Charm even though they're not Mog if they had the Merit Award?

Not sure about the Moogle Charm with the Merit Award, but one things that people often forget when doing the CES challenge is that you can clean out 90% of most caves without getting the character at the end. Granted, finishing the cave is the best part and gives you the best stuff, but you can find decent stuff in the middle of caves.

You wouldn't be able to obtain the Moogle Charm anyway, as that requires recruiting Mog. :p

Edit: Nevermind.

A CES challenge shouldn't be too difficult (OMG its teh 128% MBlock!!1 with teh FireShield/Merton). If you find this challenge enjoyable, you may want to try more and more limitations each time you try a challenge to make it even more fun.

I thought you get the Moogle Charm by betting the Charm Bangle at the Colleseum...

Seriously? Well, the way I always get it is from recruiting Mog in the World of Ruin. You just have to press confirm facing the spot where he stands when you recruit him. I had no idea you could get it in the Colliseum.

I could be mistaken... In fact, I think I get it from checking the spot where he stands, now that you mention it.

EDIT - According to gamefaqs.com, you get a Dragon Horn for betting Charm Bangle. However, you do get a Charm Bangle if you bet the Moogle Charm.

I've not seen a substantial decrease in random fights while equipping the Charm Bangle, so I usually will just give the person something better in that relic slot.

Yeah, that's why I always recruit Mog before anyone else. ;D

Can I attempt the "CESM Challenge" and skip the Random fights?

That wouldn't be much of a challenge, less a CES challenge, but if you wanted to, I guess so. xD

It's the other way around. You can win the Charm Bangle by betting the Moogle Charm at the Coliseum.

Or take the Gold hairpin and let Mog Die like he should!
