Does it matter which characters are in your party when performing the quickenings? Also, how the heck do you pull off a 10 chain? I've gotten to 7..and thats it. By does it matter...I mean..does any character combo create more damage? or does it not matter who's with who..etc

Chaining long series of quickenings become much much easier once you max out the amount of quickenings for each character. Each character will be able to perform at least 2 quickenings and even more if mist charges are hit at appropriate conditions.
In the beginning, its all about using your quickenings and mist charges wisely~ and some luck as well.

I got a 10 chain once. Sheer luck, I tell ya, but I did it.
I've done 20.
Last night, I managed to do 17 hit of quickening, 16 hit of quickening, 16 hit of quickening to Ring Wyrm, ending his life!
*Keep casting Charge* *Release another series of Quickening*
My normal quickening hit is 10.
About the Quickening damage, it doesn't matter, you can use anyone as long as you chain it high enough (My Fran and Basch appeared a lot).
