Demon wall

Ok..after you defeat the first demon wall..and touch the jewel behind it..it says "nothing happens..you can see a device behind the jewel"..how do you get the stairs/door open to get access to the treasure chest? Could someone please tell me?

You need to beat the other Demon Wall, I think. I'm not entirely sure.
