Do you find it weird when someone has a sig/avatar that's the opposite gender?

Usually, but if I find out later that I'm wrong, then I can recall that matter of relative unimportance if the person is relevant to my concerns enough that I must call him/her a him or a her.

And besides, even after we know, we don't really know, now, do we?

Judging by my avatar, am I a guy or girl?

Hermaphrodite? It's actually hard to tell, but I think you're a guy.

Anyways, my profile is female and I am male, I think this tells you the answer to your question

My sig and avatar tend to be female where-ever I go. However I have one on one site for a reason, my character in game is female. As for on here all my avatars and sigs used to be Laguna Loire from 8 but I changed to different ones and I love this one Owen made me. I guess I choose my avatar and sig (they always match like good underwear on women should) based on my current screen name if it is feminine then why not I state clearly in my profile I'm a guy. I don't find it stupid I find the guys who don't read profiles or do checks then hit on someone for their user-name/sig/avatar only to be disgusted when the reply is "dude, I am a man! a MALE you know I got the same stuff as you down there?" are the stupid ones.

Most people tend to think I'm male. I've always had an Alexis Bledel signature though. Hmm, maybe it's just my personality then.

Probably from a species that takes 22 genders to procreate. I'll guess gender # 14

Sometimes...maybe depends on the person and what sort of sig/av. Actually I think I'm still a bit vague on a few people here...whether they are male or female. Sometimes I wanna use a Sora setup, but with my name being generally male, I end up with new people thinking I'm a guy I think.. not that it matters, but for now I prefer my kairi avatar anyway cos Kairi feels very me here ^_^

I used to get people thinking I was female because I used to have Cassandra from Soul Calibur in my sig and avatar all pretty in purple.

I don't know what my sig and avatar say now.

i dont find it wierd but i do find it confusing when a girl has a masculine sig and then i have to do the daunting and annoying task of checking out their profile.......doesnt it suck wasting a whole 30 seconds of your life? :D

It's sometimes a bit confusing when a guy has a feminine sig/avatar or the other way around, but it doesn't really bother me. Sometimes I'm not sure which gender someone is, but I can still check their user profile, and if their gender isn't told there, I'll probably just use neutral words to refer to his/her gender. :p

I would be a hypocrite if I did.

No you wouldn't. That avatar is of a guy.

Cloudane
11-16-2006, 12:05 AM
I do get confused by that.

Mind, on non-FF boards, people often think 'Cloudane' sounds feminine. Combined with the slightly non-masculine looks of some FF main characters that I usually have as avatars, people often wrongly think I'm a girl.

Iceglow
11-16-2006, 12:10 AM
well I find it funny to be mistaken for a girl. On a game IRC chat channel where I was a moderator and played a female character so many guys used to hit on me and I used to let them, then right as they were all like "OMFG I can't hold it any longer, you're so hot" I used to go and ruin it for them by going "ROFL I'm a guy IRL sicko!" then ban kick them from the chat. Yeah this was IRC and they had never seen a picture of me in their lives and yet they hit on me.

I don't find it weird, but I tend to associate people's genders to the gender of the person in their avatar and/or signature. My avatars (I'm too lazy for a sig) are usually male characters from games/anime/tv series becuse I rarely ever find a female character that I find interesting. Most females in things I watch are either too much sugar n cream, damsels in distress or just plain annoying! So yeah.

It's not weird, but it can be really misleading. :jess:

StarlightAngel
11-17-2006, 03:16 PM
I don't really care. I can usually tell by the way they write or the style the signature is done (Eh... don't ask. I'm bad at explaining.), and if I can't figure out by that then I'll assume they are of *insertgenderhere* gender based off my guesses and get on with life. Sometimes I'm wrong, sometimes I'm right. And if I do figure out that they're of the opposite gender, I just switch my thinking of them.

I do not think it is weird, though people in the past have thought I was a girl due to my sigs. *shrugs* I just make sigs relative to what I am interested in at the moment, whether it is my favorite character of an anime I am watching or a game I am playing or I have random moods. Thinking about it, I might make a Fate/Stay Night sig soon...

I don't think it's weird at all. I usually have females as my avatars, and I'm a girl. Once I had Squall as my avatar, cus I can relate alot to him, and once I had Sephiroth... I think those are the only males I've had as avatars.

And signatures? I'm never changing mine. I <3 Rikku!

Well, I switch alot between guy's and girl's in my sigs. I don't think it's wierd. Not the least bit. The only way you would mistake me for a guy is if you can't read.

Most of the time people with opposite gender sigs or avatars have them because they find the person featured in the pictures attractive, or respect them, or like them.

There'e nothing wrong with that.
