View Full Version : Why revive threads anyway?

Why is it that people occasionally revive old threads that are on like the 20th page of a forum? Who reads through that many pages of threads? And for a more universal topic, how deep into a forum such as General Chat do you go?

I stick to the first page, mostly. If it's not on the first page, it's not worth my time anyway.

I normally read until a thread catches my attention, if that means it's on the 20th page, then I read through all of them. :)

Bfff! Nothing at all in General is ever going to be worth your time.

I only stick to new posts because new stuff is active, and activity is what makes forums interesting. Not stiff, lifeless junk from halfway down the first page.

Feel free to look in the Archives, or as I like to call them the Zanarkand Ruins. Lots of classic things ^_^

Either:

1. They have never used a forum before

2. Didn't bother to read the rules for this forum

3. They're mentally retarded

I rarely ever look beyond the first half of the first page

yeah I used to do that when I was younger, I'd be inactive forever and come back and see something that was so old and post to it. I just figured since I wasn't there to post on it before, then why not now.

I go about one or two pages then get bored and leave for a few days.

I can think of one thing that is more worth reviving than threads, but I'm not gonna say what 'cause it'll only open a can of worms and next thing you know this thread is about Cheese Weapon.

I do what blackmage_nuke does. No point looking further down than that.

I don't even go past the threads that are in bold.

I like it when people revive old threads because then I laugh at them and feel superior. I very rarely look past the first page of General Chat. Only if I'm looking for a particular topic that's a few days old.

I usually read all on the first page, and maybe look at a couple on the second page if I haven't already looked at them. :jess:

I revived a couple of threads by accident in my early days. :eep:

Anyways, i never really look past the first page.

I guess people go that many pages bacl because they're bored..?

Anyway, I usually just stick to the first page here in General Chat..

I often do it by accent, if ever. I read through topics been and gone, get heated over what people say, or feel and urge to respond heartily and add an extra spark to the thread... but more often than not it's "page two" news and I get screamed at by mods.

I tried desperately to revive the Photo Fight one, but couldn't find it. Oh well.

I tend to be the person who posts after someone's revived a thread.

I have thread count per page set to 5000. If it isn't on the first page it's not worth my time.

I can't even read through 1 page (of course I have it set to 100 posts a page)letalone 20 pages :p

I always get tricked into posting old threads in the FF sections revived by newbies ;_;

Now I'm curious about what I didn't want to say. :mad2:

I hate old threads!

edit: oh now I get it. Aeris. Good one, Old Manus.

I just want to know htf you people keep finding threads I haven't posted in and reviving them. I mean, seriously.

The thing that bugs me about revived threads is when the moderator comes and lays down the law. I understand the "please don't revive old threads" part, but then it is typically followed by the suggestion, "if you want to talk about this topic, feel free to start a new thread."

I prefer it like this to the forums that demand there to be exactly one thread on a subject and if you dare to post a thread that has been posted before, regardless of how much has changed since the original post date, they swoop down upon you and enact vengence for not having used the search function, even if said function has a default time of oh, let's say 30 days.
