I got through the Salikawood, but cannot beat the Big Bomb (or whatever it was called) because it keeps using 'renew', so I decided to go to the Phon Coast. Is this the right place to go? I mean, the enemies here are so difficult!

I had no problems in the Salikawoods with the enemies but once I got to the Phon Coast I was getting slaughtered.

My main party is Balthier (Lv. 33), Fran (Lv. 33), and Penelo (Lv. 32). Is the Phon Coast where I'm supposed to go in order to reach Archades?

Yes, you're on the right track.

There is a bit of a difficulty increase from the Salikawood to the Phon Coast, but if you're all decked out in the best equipments you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Make sure your weapons and armor are up to date, and if you're still having trouble hang out in the Salikawood and gain a few levels. If you want to level more quickly you might try the Feywood. It's a bit more difficult, however, if you take it slowly you will make some good exp and loot.

The same thing happened to me, the Phon Coast is very much a step up. I grinded there until I was 40, then went on and didn't have any problems with the bosses coming up. Just run up and down the coast a few times, and you should pick up exp pretty quickly. You can also grind the Tchita Uplands for a bit before you head on into the city, and that can be another way to level up quickly.

If you are only leveling three character, I recommend level 50 before Archades. I use Tchita Uplands for training spot. For the very least, I gain 5 level in Tchita. Steal Embroidered Tippet from the Coeurl in Tchita. It's a rare item, so don't expect to get it easily, I managed to get 5 Embroidered Tippet from the Coeurl but I spent more than 5 hours here, and I kill more than 500 Coeurl but only get 5 of it.
