bazaar items and retention

i was wondering if you have to turn it X specific items at once to get bazaar items to appear or does the game have a retention list so u can turn in X items at one time and Y items at some other time and the new bazaar item appears?

If the required items have been sold, Bazaar items will appear. The game will keep track of them.
