View Full Version : Good places to level up at?

I've just defeated Doctor Cid in Draklor Laboratories and my main party is at levels 36-38. What good places are there to farm experience and Gil where I'm at?

And don't tell me it's easy to get Gil in this game! I become increasingly poor the further I go into it! :mad2: :cat:

Also,

What on earth is this Venat thing? Is this thing going to get an explanation any time soon? It's really starting to irritate me.

When will Reddas join my party?

You're at the Port now, right? If you are, there's some land right outside there that should give you decent EXP and nice things to sell. I dunno how hard it will be. Lots of flying enemies there, but if you oil and fire them they'll die in two seconds. If that's hard, just try the Phon Coast or something? :( Heading to the Feywood could be nice, too. The enemies there will start to give like 1k exp a pop and aren't really difficult. Set someone to Steal to make lots of yummy profit.

Make sure you buy Embroidered Tippets if you're just trying to level since they double your EXP earned and all that cool stuff.

Venat eventually gets explained. You're heading to a big explanation right now in Giruvegan.

And Reddas will join your party after you're done with Giruvegan things.

Anyway, I think that's all the parts you're at. If not, just ignore everything I said and call me a chicken-cow hybrid as an insult.

Oh, thank you so much Lunar. :cat: :)

And I hope so. >_> No matter how cool it looks, it just annoys me.

Thanks alot for marking your freaking spoilers! But don't worry, I've just edited your entire post here. Don't spoil the game for other people again, much less me! ~ Zeromus

If you're interested in making money, I found that it's very easy to chain cerberus and other dog-like creatures in the Feywood. Prime pelts are a very common drop and they sell for over 1,000 gil a pop. They also sometimes drop franciscas, which is an Axe. It has an attack power of like, 89 or something, and it sells for 5,000 a pop. That's a rare drop though.

For experience, the next two big places you're headed plot-wise are probably best.

For money, just slaughter Mirrorknights in the area directly west of the Feywood save crystal. By the time you get a chain of a hundred or so, you'll have accumulated enough loot to sell for roughly 200,000 Gil. It should take less than an hour, even if you're not at particularly high levels.

You should make sure that you have one party member constantly stealing from monsters to maximize the amount of loot that you get.

Yes, I have Ashe with that 'Foe: HP 100% -> Steal' Gambit on when I'm out in the field. Is there another Gambit combination that would be more effective (I just went shopping for Gambits)? Edit: She always has the Thief Cuffs on too, of course.

I also purchased like forty Teleport Stones so I don't have to worry about walking everywhere anymore.

Thanks alot everyone! :) :cat:

Tchita Uplands. The Serpent there gives Tanned Hide (Something like that) which worth 600 gil, Coeurl gives Embroidered Tippet and Coeurl Pelt which worth 600 gil, Malboro there sometimes gives Malboro Fruit which also worth 600 gil. They have yummy EXP too. I enter Tchita Uplands when my level is 33 but when I reach Sochen, my level is 44!! I also have 78 Coeurl Pelt, 99 Tanned Hide, 5 Embroidered Tippet and 32 Malboro Fruit.

Does anyone have a good place to level up past 60, right now I am in the Nabreus Deadlands/the Necrohal of Nabudis.

Any places better than that.

I'd say the Penumbra inside the Pharos. It's host to a steady stream of enemies that give 1700-2000 experience apiece.

Giruvegan - Great Crystal and Henne Mines is also a good place for Level 60+. And obviously, not the area which you can access on your first visit.

Add "Poach" to Foe, HP = critical" as a gambit to someone in your party, it will get you the prime loot :D

I'm still leveling up early in the game but I found out that the Lhusu mines skeletons drop 200 gil bone fragments, the tomatos at Ogir Yensa drop 300 gil succulent fruit and those "armored Ulstrix" at Nam Yensa drop 1000 gil crooked staffs. Great places to line up your party's pockets :D

^You don't get EXP and LP when you use Poach. That's the weak point of Poach.

I think the best place to level and farm at lv 35-40 (where I am right now) is in the Zertinan Caverns, in the place where Adrammelech used to be. The Shambling Corpses drop crazy good loot, they're relatively easy, and they just keep coming. Also, it's kinda close to the Westersand Crystal.

Also, Venat gets explained. There is a HUGE plot twist after Giruvegan. Reddas joins your party after that.

Okay, well,

I got through the Feywood. I'd say it took an hour to go through the entire area, beating Rafflesia and figuring out the wierd-but-awesome illusion puzzle with Belias.

It took like, another hour to go through the freaking steps in Giruvegan. ;__; I was like 'well, thankfully, I'm almost there!".

Nope. It may've taken me another hour or so to go through the beautiful-but-lengthly Great Crystal. I mean, it was an awesome dungeon, but, argh!

But, it was worth it. Because after that plot twist I was like O_O, and omg it talked! It's less annoying now! And why won't Balthier spill it already! And yay, Reddas joined by party! And *takes a rest and saves*

Anyway, thank you for everyone's advice. I'll just leave this thread for anyone to give any other leveling questions/tips. :cat:

Is there a way to get to the Great Crystal without having to backtrack through all of Giruvegan? I just got Ultima and, as Dell said, it seems like a good place to level, but it takes so long just to get there.

It's not really long, run as fast as you can and you'll reach the Crystal. :)

Zero, the next dungeon is three times longer than the Great Crystal.
Be sure to find an urn (The one containing map) in every ascent. You won't want to go through the dungeon all over again.

Oh dear god, you mean something can actually be LONGER than that place? ;__;

But thanks for the tip. :cat: :)

Yes. A lot of boss too. :( And two Espers. :D

And go get some Esper, I think you should at least get Adrammelech and Zalera. And I seriously recommend to be at level 50+ before that long dungeon.

Poach doesn't give LP ? Ooooo, never noticed it, my Basch has it as a gambit but he is equipped with Golden Amulet so he gets plenty of LP regardless :D

Well, I'm still at a relatively early part of the game, but I train a lot on the Ozmone Plains.

right now I finished cid lab, and headed back the the sochen cave palace, equipped everybody with the double exp thing and after 1hr or so, and i'm lvl 52, started at lvl 41, so I think thats a good place to level and the moldy flesh thing you get from the zombies and other headless things are worth like 700.

Probably the best place to level up is in the Necrohol of Nabudis, but only if your entire party's levels are high enough to withstand the insanely tough enemies therein. When I went for the Zodiac Spear my entire party gained ten whole levels extremely quickly. And I'll be going back later on to obtain the Chaos Esper.

I just went trough Pamina Rift and loved it!!! It is the first music I like, the scenery is all on blue tones for a change (anyone noticed how the rusty / orangy tones dominate everywhere else if you keep the camera at eye level ?) and the loot is great :D:D:D Plus there is only one or two toughies. I think this will be my favorite leveling up spot for a while!

Check out the maps I'm scanning and putting online at my Wiki
