...While I was farming Crystal Dragons in FFVA to get some Dragon Lances. Two hours spend mindlessly spamming !Steal and Return, but it was rewarding in the end.

What was the most time you've spent doing something menial in a game, and what did you do to pass the time for amusement?

Years ago I spent days and days fighting Pink Puffs for some armor, but never succeeded. Didn't really do anything at the same time.

Tried to steal some damned flute from a Gigas on the mountain path between Conde Petie and Madain Sari, and it turned out there was a 1/256 chance to get it. Or so I was told. It took a while either way. :p

I left Baten Kaitos on for a week to get a certain card.

Yes, a week.

A certain card has to age for a week.

I've level grinded to death in FFVII before. Most of the time I was doing it, though, I 1) cheated using a turbo button and a rubber band on Mideel and 2) was at someone else's house, so we'd just take turns on the other consoles or on the PC.

Also doing chocobo breeding and racing, which, again, was made much mroe fun by having others there.

Uh...not that long, actually. Probably just 4 or 5 hours for a few days on a Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines. While that was going, I was just reading. I actually finished a book though!

I listen to music if I'm doing something repetitive and boring in games.

It passes the time, I guess. :/

I used to level grind in two games (One on the PS2 and one on the GBA) while reading a book. Fun times.

Sorting through the 11GB of custom content I downloaded for The Sims 2... Painful. I watch TV or read while I do it.

I grinded to level 90 in FFXII the other day, and I used mIRC as well as the forums to pass the time.

In The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, I was helping a naked man finding a Witch who stole his sword, and clothes.
I've spend hours trying to find her while this naked man was following me around, and helping me fighting monsters.
Turned out I was going the wrong direction the whole time, and that quest should have taken me no more than 2 minutes.
I watched TV for making it less boring.

Aside from special chests that contain area maps, all of the treasure chests in FFXII are, to some extent, random in their contents. It's not a huge issue when it comes between procuring either a Potion or 100 Gil, but when you get into the super-tough optional dungeons and it comes down to getting either a Ribbon or 1 Gil, it becomes kind of a Situation.

My point is that a spent a few minutes doing the old reset-check-reset-check in an attempt to get the quality spoils from one of these things before I realized that, as useful as a Ribbon or an Ensanguined Shield would be, I'd have more fun if I just actually played the game.

Don't worry, I've done that too for that game. Still missing one bloody card still and I won't play Origins until I get it. :mad2:
