I have no idea, but I found an old thread you can read about it (if you like):

http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=86174

I think that particular thread is too old to continue discussion in, so there’s probably nothing wrong with this thread you have created here. :) I was just trying to provide some reading material which may be of some use.

I think the wolf symbolizes the guilt Cloud has about the deaths of some of his friends, and also his loneliness. When he finally returns to his friends at the end of the movie (in the church), there's a scene just before that where the wolf disappears, and I think Cloud stops being a lone wolf there. There (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=86174) are (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=90157) several (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=86611) other (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=78326) threads (http://forums.eyesonff.com/showthread.php?t=79854) about this topic as well.

Cloud could be feeling guilty about what happened to Zack, but I think he's even more devastated about what happened to Aeris. When Cloud is having a heated argument with Tifa (in a flashback), he says, "But we just let her die." Then you see Aeris' voice talking to Cloud, saying, "Why don't you forgive yourself?"

yeah, but the wolf has nothing to do with Aerith though, does it?how do ye explain that!

It's Cloud's Guilt for failing to protect people, in general, period. Aerith and Zack are a subset of 'people Cloud feels he failed to protect'. That is their connection to the wolf. Nothing more.

And I know that the creators have stated that the Wolf is a representation of Cloud's guilt. NOT Zack.

Well, guess what. Your source was wrong. If you keep trying to stand by your belief over the fiat of the people who made the gorram movie, then you will simply be willfully and obstinately ignorant.

Check the extra features on the DVD and you will hear the director state it represents Cloud's guilt. It's not Zack, and it's not really that big of a deal. Let's all just let it go already :jess: (At least until this topic comes up yet again)
