How do the Volley Shots work?

I have Larbeight with Volley Shot 3, and Tidus used Nap Shot 3 and put the goalie to sleep. Sometimes Larbeight volleys and sometimes he doesn't. It's weird... Volley Shot 3 has a 100% chance. Does he need to be in a certain spot? He won't do it all the time up close either. Maybe he was too close...

i'm not 100% on this tho i'm sure endless could solve this with ease. volley shots are used wen the ball is let free (i.e passed and not caught, or bouncing off of a keeper after inflicting a status or he just blocks it). dunno y it aint workin wen it's 100% tho!?

The success of a Volley Shot depends on various factors.

i) The player needs to be reasonably close to the goal.
ii) The player with VS needs to be the one selected to receive the free ball.
iii) And finally the % of the shot being activated is taken into account.
