That dream Zanarkand is somewhere in Spira and Sin transported him out of it when it attacked the city.

PS: He is in the dream Zanarkand in the begining.

Cause Yu Yevon that summon dream Zanarkand is gone so the entire dream Zanarkand along with its residents will be gone too.

What make you think Tidus never age anyway?

ok here's the thing, dream zanarkand did exist in reality 1000 years ago before being destroyed by sin, but tidus wasn't in the real version of the dream zanarkand.

then the fayth dreamt up zanarkand to keep it alive.

1,000 years into the dream zanarkand tidus exists but then sin transports him out of dream zanarkand and into spira, where zanarkand is actually a ruin.

the attack in zanarkand by sin that tidus experiences is not the original attack that caused zanarkand to be a ruin in the first place.

for those of u that hav played x-2, shuyin and lenne did exist in the real zanarkand 1,000 years ago before it was destroyed in the initial attack by sin. as did maechen

About 1000 years ago:

Machina using Bevelle and Aeons summoning Zanarkand started a war (Machina began)
Both countries used machinas, but Bevelle, who used mahina as their primary weapon was taking advantages. Zanarkand was deemed to lose from the beginning.
Yevon, leader of Zanarkand, transformed the remaining citizens and followers into fayths (The fayth cluster on Mt. Gagazett)
Summer Yevon started to summon Dream Zanarkand using fayth’s memories. He then transformed himself into Yu Yevon and created the first “Sin”. (Sin was born)
Dream Zanarkand born
Sin destroyed the abandoned Zanarkand and the Bevelle. Machina civilization collapsed.(from http://http://www.ffonline.com/)

so y do Auron and Tidus die @ the end if they were just transported the whole time? and what happened to every1 else in zanarkand w/ Tidus? did they die?

Auron was originally from Spira. He rode Sin to Dream Zanarkand after he died and looked after Tidus, just like he promised Jecht.

After Yu Yevon was defeated, Dream Zanarkand and Tidus faded, because there was nobody summoning Dream Zanarkand, and by extension, Tidus. Auron was only still in Spira because of his promise to Jecht, and when he had fulfilled it, he allowed himself to be sent.

Auron was already dead; He allowed his soul to return to the farplane.

By dream, we mean summoned, like an Aeon. Dream Zanarkand (and all its citizens) was practically just one gigantic Aeon. This means Tidus was as real as aeons are. He has a real, physical body, a real mind, real thoughts, but is a summoned creature.

Dream Zanarkand existed in the present too, and Tidus, a part of the summoned city, was by the aid of Sin transported out of it and to Spira. No time traveling at all :p.

It's the most confusing aspect of the game, and it doesn't help that Tidus is misled into believing that he travelled through time for 90% of the game. He (reasonably) assumes that DZ and Zanarkand exist in the same location. Since they don't they can exist at the same time.

'Dream' is also a misleading because we think of dreams as insubstantial, but in FFX the dreams of the Fayth can have a physical coporeal existence, as long as they dream continuously.

It wasn't totally clear for me either, what Tidus and Dream Zanarkand was all about.
But after reading those posts, I think I understand the whole concept now. Thanks!

Why Auron? He originally lived in the real world, and went to Dream Zanarkand because he had promised Jecht. He was not a dream of the fayth, just an unsent.
