Since FF last names are never actually said in-game (except for Steiner and Garnet), we've always had to rely on official sources. Well, all official sources gave Zidane's surname is "Tribal"

So I was wondering, is it said like the word tribal (try-bull)? Ive always pronounced it like "tree ball", with the stress on the first syllable.

Thoughts?

I pronounce it how it looks. Like "tribal."

I say try-ball, like the word tribal. I guess he's got that name because he's from from a 'tribe' of Genomes.

I just say it as "tribal," like the tribal council on Survivor. :p

Apparently his name is supposed to be based off the word "tzigane" or something so that's why they gave him that last name. Might be wrong though.

I pronounce Zidane's last name just like the word "tribal". I wonder if that's his last name because he's one of the Tantalus crew or because he's a Genome. As far as I know, Zidane was raised by the Tantalus, but I don't think they know about his origins.

No they didn't. At least not until he tells them at the end of the game which we don't see but I'm sure he does.

Tribal, as in...a tribe of natives...and somehow it always made me think of a tribe in africa or something, because zidane had a tail, so maybe he belonged to a hybrid human-monkey tribe in africa.

It's Tribal. If it was "Tree-bal" it would be either Trďbal or Triball.

well, since watching my XII extras DVD and hearing someone pronounce Zidane "zih-DAYNE" why not call him "zih-DAYNE" "trih-BULL"? Just for consistency's sake.
